Agree 100%. Unless things are just so incredibly bad that keeping Sumlin would be a complete detriment to the program. And that would mean things would have to be REALLY bad. Doesn't seem like its reached that point if he still has a faction of BMA's supporting him.

John Chavis, one of the best DC's in the land, was in the fold at this point last year. Publicly in the fold. Which means Sumlin prob had him wrapped up well before 12/31 when he was announced.

That's the key. And there are a very small faction of coaches that hit those qualifications. I think we hold on for one more mediocre year with the hope of having some talent here rather than blast the thing to smitherenes

Because they want to "see if he leaves on his own" and then only then will they go nuclear "and release the dirt". Which would be a long legal battle. Oh, and this would be right before signing day. With no coach lined up (per Leap Day) and good luck finding one jumping on board that late into bed with a school that is trying to coerce a coach out of his contract buyout. All seems legit.
Great 1st season, Heisman winner, new league, new stadium (best facilities), recruiting off the charts, sips down and hired a goober that no one likes, just blasted the crap out of ou in bowl game, tc..
Everything in the world going right and a chance to just squash the crap out of your main (local) rivals in ou and tu and put them out of their misery (more tu than ou) and we are blowing it!!
Bad coaching changes/hires/not firing when they should have been fired...I could go on and on.

He was considered for a couple of lower level jobs this year and you have to think he wants a HC gig or would we even consider him if Sumlin is gone?

At this point your only choice is to hope he nails the OC hire and turns it around or you hire another HC after a full season to evaluate and nail that hire.
