quote:Well said. Bayside's group either doesn't have the balls to do what's right for the University OR (with $35/bbl oil), they don't have the money. On second thought, they may have the money, but they don't want to part with it in order to correct something they likely had a big hand in to begin with.
Well, for the jokers that are paying Sumlin's salary, I hope you're proud. You signed yourselves up to one of the most ridiculous contracts ever and to a guy that is proving to be a real loser. "but, but, we are gonna find him a new OC" That is so stupid. There is no righting the ship when your leader simply doesn't have it in him.
This is like having a jackass CEO that is overpaid, but has a great contract. So you keep ushering in new COOs and CFOs. Keep burning your cash, but nothing is going to change.
And another thing, this power play is ridiculous. The faction of guys that want Sumlin out are CORRECT. There has got to be 80% disapproval of the guy. And if the dirt on Sumlin was ever made public, I bet that disapproval would go to 99%. But that doesn't matter because it's all about showing everyone who's in charge.
quote:^^This. The sheer impact of having TWO former 5* QBs recruiting against you is colossal. There is NOTHING, outside of winning a national championship, that Sumlin can do to overcome that. And to top that, one of the QBs went to a school where they may never play and the other went to a school that runs the exact opposite type of offense that suits his play style.quote:KWS is doing damage to the football program. I don't think you want the alternative, which is going public with the proof.
As enthralling as this thread has been, only one thing is for certain. Several posters on these boards are doing damage to the football program. I suspect some are doing it intentionally. I really wish we would stop with the rumor and innuendo.

I know nothing, but my sense is that it has to be more than something he did (or is doing) in his free time. That whatever it is has somehow spilled over into his job; either while working, or with players, or maybe somehow with university resources. Just guessing. But several who claim to be in the know say it has nothing to do with NCAA violations, and I admittedly don't know where the lines are there.

This thread is getting close to being nuked again. My air raid sirens are going off.
quote:With that said, how long will it be before these multiple "instances" come to light? In today's world, there really are no secrets. Sooner or later, things get exposed. If there is truly "cause" (and I'm not claiming to know that there is), then it will come out eventually and we will be forced to deal with it.
It's not just one thing that he is done, it's multiple.

The side that Bayside(not that he is on their side) is orating for is basing their argument COMPLETELY on a loser mentality. They are the ones that pushed for allowed Sumlin to have such an outrageous contract. They are the ones that are refusing to take responsibility for that. They are the ones that continue to just kick the problem down the road. They are so freaking arrogant that the smell of their own crap is pleasing to them.
They are content and happy with 7-9 wins per season. They are unwilling to make a change because they are "afraid of what might happen". These folks are filthy stinking rich because they took risks in their businesses that paid them huge dividends. Unfortunately they won't use that business savvy in this situation. It is beyond confounding.

quote:You serious, Clark? We are finding out the hard way what it's like to hire an OC with no experience and you want to turn around and hire a new HC without any HC experience?
So if Meacham is the answer, but we can't convince him to come as OC, why don't we just make him HC?
quote:No, I wasn't serious. But if you think that he is the answer, then it makes sense. sumlin brings nothing to the table.quote:You serious, Clark? I'd say it is kind of like this. It is bad enough to get just cause but they cannot keep it under wraps too long (it is not totally new) and they want to play this card sooner rather than later (if they have to).

Sumlin is cleaning up the mess he created and I think he should be given the opportunity to get it right. That said he needs to have results on the field next year and by that I mean 10+ wins in the regular season. However unlike many here I have confidence he can do just that.

Unfortunately I also agree with this. But this is just their crutch of the week. Once again using fear of the unknown as a reason to not fix a problem when it needs fixing.
