I think TC's is down the street. This looks to have been a Brewingz (dumbest name ever).

You can go back in time on streetview. It was Timmy Chan's.

I'm sure El Tiempo can do fine there. Pretty much any place that can stay staffed with regular hours has been doing well in that area in recent years. El Tiempo prices might be a little steep, but that doesn't seem to hinder Dona Leti's on Sowf Poce Oak.

Definitely more convenient when leaving.

I haven't been to that one in a while, but the El Tiempo is quite a bit smaller than the typical Pappasito's footprint.

I think Terry Blacks will do just fine, its going to be really nice. Not sure about the hotel, although little boutique hotels are trendy right now.

yeah, I can't think of too many "gourmet" BBQ places that haven't done well ITL in the past 5-10 years.

I was more worried that the crowd would be similar to Dona Leti's. Doesn't seem to be the case so far.

Had a great dinner at Credence last weekend. It's Levi Goode's baby over near Memorial City.

Definitely a classier joint with higher end food and service than their other venues.

I highly recommend the deviled crabs, ribeye, and coconut creme pie, though everything we had was excellent.

I will definitely be returning.

I've been abusing Credence on the corporate expenses - the sidecar speakeasy is fun too, albeit dumb expensive for $25 cocktails

NO!!!!!! That's a huge bummer. I don't go there much since moving north of I10 years ago...but was a regular when I still lived nearby. I still go when I'm in that area. Great spot.

that sucks. We always liked Paulie's but I guess we are partially to blame. We never seem to find our way there

we go frequently... wow

Camerata is a significant fixture in the local somm community. Many of the local pros have taken an employment turn there.

Couldn't come to an agreement with the landlord. I'm curious much they wanted to increase rent?

Sounds like theres a possibility for them to open a new restaurant elsewhere. Hoping that's the case.

good question. Did that building change hands in the last few years? Bobby Heugel was interviewed earlier in the year and mentioned that Montrose real estate was becoming too expensive for food and drinks and he said that was primarily due to outside of Texas commercial RE investors being drawn in and then immediately putting pressure on their current lease rates. Don't know how true this is, but it is why Heugel's group is now only opening at places that he owns real estate.

Sort of related to this thread: the disco Kroger lot that has sat vacant for a couple years now has construction equipment on it and appears to have gone through site works.

Camerata closing with Paulie's is a huge bummer. Great post dinner date night spot and all of the somms/bartenders there are super knowledgeable and friendly.

I was trying to post about the Molly's in Clear Lake burning, but my link wouldn't cooperate. I'm sure many of you have been there.

Sounds like the roof is opened now, so it'll just burn to the ground.

I went back in March. Had the hearth-roasted tuna with rancho gordo white beans, bacon, greens and salsa verde. Delicious.

Ready to go back.

Looks like the Masraff owned By Popular Demand is opening a second location in West U.

Interesting that they decided to open across from Marquis II. BPD has done a good job of getting locals to invest in the company (and therefore evangelize it) so I'll be curious to see how it does. Can't imagine this is good news for The Deuce.

they have a great bourbon selection.

some miss the old days of a smoky haze and drunk UH fraternity members throwing up in the bathroom after too many Ice Teas. I sort of like it now. It's more of an adult lounge.

It was never the same after they remodeled it 10 years ago or so. Didn't have the same charm after they put in windows, real bathrooms, and not letting people smoke in there anymore

anyone got comments on Chronicle top 100? I think these lists are kinda silly, trying to compare taco trucks and bellaire noodle places with full service restaurants, etc. But I guess it serves a purpose.

It'd be easier to comment if we could see the list.

The new Chilaquiles place on 11th (formerly Berryhill and 1891) is quite good. Big emphasis on authentic ingredients. I had the Chilaquiles Bandera which came with three different sauces and they were all tasty. Hopefully they can make it longer than 1891 did.
