I went over there when they opened today to speak to one of the owners. I'm pretty sure he was ready to kick me out until I thanked him for finally resolving the problem. I told him if they want to stay mad, they can stay mad, but we're happy with the situation and ready to move on with this behind us as long as things don't change for the worse down the line. I can't speak for any of the other neighbors, but I think we've reached a satisfactory balance as far as my property is concerned.
ETA: The situation is this:
- The MUA unit is operating at a level of generally 61-66 dB(A) with short, isolated instances of up to 69-70 dB(A).
- The mode of operation and reduction in sound level has significantly reduced the frequencies which penetrate walls more easily, thus reducing the ability to hear the unit indoors.
- The unit will be turned off between 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM (My guess is they fixed the interlock). Per the owner, the hoods must run during cooking AND cleaning for employee safety. We can accept that as reasonable, but would still prefer it be off earlier whenever possible.
Anything over 65 dB(A) is considered non-compliant, but considering this is down from 72-74 dB(A) and it's not going to be running over night, we can live with it.
