Pretty sure it's just your average ribbon snake but it's hard to distinguish color and pattern based on your photo.

It's 100% non-venomous and no threat to you or family.

Definitely a Coral snake. What happened? Did he run over it with the lawn mower or go ballistic and beat it to pieces with something?

It was between the curb and lawn and he got it with the trimmer while edging.

If you're using imgur, it has changed recently. You can't click the drop down bar and select the pre formatted ubb code. Now, you have to click your image once it uploads, select copy, then manually type in your img tags on TexAgs and paste the copied image link in between them.

Ribbon snakes are so damn fast. They're almost impossible to catch. About two months ago, I had one cornered and went I went to grab him by the tail, he launched out, bit me on my pinky finger, and the little sob drew blood. It didn't hurt more than being scratched, but kinda surprised me more than anything.

Assuming you pronounce that "cottonmouth" and not something fancy and French sounding (with all those crazy "E"s you stuck in there), then yes, a lot of people do.

It hasn't worked on mobile for me since they changed things up. The code copy tries to link to the page, not the actual image.

We called them garter snakes growing up but not sure if that's accurate.

I have one that hangs out near my garage area that's a bit bigger than him. We have a mutual understanding that he tries to slither out and scare the bejeezus out of me when I least expect it, then he hauls snake butt into either an expansion joint in the driveway or two or three other small hidey holes depending on where he gets me spooked. I don't mind snakes, but I have that dominant gene that does not allow my mind to comprehend wanting to grab them with my hand, even the passive guys.

I've herded him out of the garage a couple of times using a piece of cardboard, that is my side of our mutual understanding. He seems to be really good at moving just when I'm stepping around a corner so you catch it out of the corner of your eye.
