Headline where? And on what newspaper nobody reads anymore or on what network nobody watches? Everyone will be discussing FACTS on X and on podcasts that MILLIONS watch. They will be discussing what DOGE is accomplishing and why it's critical to the success of this country.

There has been a HUGE paradigm shift in how this country consumes news so worrying about a scary headline is ridiculous. I think our politicians are slowly coming to that realization as well.

Here's another thing. Why do they so automatically need an increase in debt ceiling if you were going to only pass a few *clean* bills? You probably don't have to increase it.

If really needed, fine, but don't add to anything and don't pass bad laws and acts in some pork bill. Do all transparent and you can start figuring out where to start cutting back.

Certainly nothing enshrining harmful GOF, political bad actors staying unaccountable, or rules preventing transparency, etc, like this.

If he is defending just the pay raise, yes, that argument has been made. But give a clean CR bill. Transparency and limited additions before new Congress.

Agree with everything you said here, but the italics, in the most basic sense, was true from his point of view. That day was very volatile.

One of the arguments have made against the claim it was a Trump planned insurrection is -- it would have succeeded if it had been. It had the numbers. Its non-strategic or even tactical direction, versus being "whipped up" was very obvious.

The debt limit has to be raised primarily because of service on our debt. Debt service has now passed $ 1T /yr, and will continue to rise.

It was indeed a provocateur urging --- he is the one filming the video. Watched the whole thing in January'21 when you could still see it. At intervals he is saying stuff like "we gotta burn this ****" etc. Its not Babbitt breaking the glass -- it had already happened. Some excess of zeal made her climb through the frame but she broke nothing. You see similar being done by black bloc types at the group of arcades to one side (believe the south if memory serves) of the main vaulted entrance of the inaugural platform.

A "bipartisan agreement" of the rich elite is meaningless. It didn't consult the clear "bipartisan" message of the voters on Nov 5 to not continue "pork as usual." This is especially true if most had no input on it or were even told.

I think Congress better get used to a lot closer scrutiny than they've had in the past. With the new media, there are a ton more eyes studying and analyzing these things, and there is no way to hide the bad stuff. It's also exponentially easier to energize the base and build momentum for communicating with elected officials.

They better learn quickly that they are working for the people, not vice versa, and that the people are watching and engaged at a level they haven't experienced before. If they want to stay in office they should start listening.

I really can't stand this guy. What a liar. Nobody besides the Republican leadership had even seen the CR, much less agreed to vote for it. If he's this flustered about it being stopped it tells me it was the right thing to do.

Having said that, I think the Democrats are dipping into the same well once too many times and the American public has gotten wise to their games. Republicans need to present a clean CR and make the Democrats vote against it. Given the new media's power and influence, the public will be reminded often about the playbook the establishment is using with the threat of a shutdown and who would really be responsible for it.
