She is great going through that! In just under two minutes, showed what an abomination the omnibus concept is. Get this stopped.

Catturd? As of May it was over $175 billion and while I don't keep track directly I'm pretty sure it's well north of that by now, even at depreciated cost estimates (which of course means we will spend much more than that to replace what is written off and sent over).

Oops
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because hard men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

- Clean 3-mo CR
- Clean farm bill pkg
- Disaster aid - $110B
- Clean health extenders w/o PBM reform
- Paygo scorecard wiped to zero
- 2-yr suspension of debt limit to Jan 2027
- No E15

The question is what pork got left in the bill?

Same disaster relief that was in the old bill.

One thing to remember is that the Senate is still 50/50. So the structural reforms and other things that Chip Roy (correctly) wants will not happen this session period. While I agree with him, this does rub many colleagues the wrong way and will make it harder for some things to get done. I'd take the win here as a member of the Freedom Caucus.

I know but how did they come up with $110B to start. This is new spending. What was disaster relief in the original $7T budget and why do we need 110B more is what I'd like to know.

I think it's the fact he makes it sound like it's a pallet of $200 million in cash. Much of it was book value of weapons. Some of which won't be replaced.

I think this stems from the fact that FEMA reported they had no more money. So, that's where this $110B stemmed from. I think.

This bill isn't going anywhere, might as well wait until January and see if the makeup of the new Congress changes anything.

It's 4 weeks or so. Shut it down until then and pass it the day Trump takes office.

Is there any chance at all this was a rope a dope by Johnson. Elon, Vivek and Trump? It was a planned set-up?

ETA: Or a systems check?

When Trump takes office the republicans will have less votes in the house and still need Dems in the senate to vote for it

More like Johnson and Trump. Which I said all along that Johnson doesn't take a piss without Trumps permission.

Unless they get Freedom Caucus votes, which doesn't appear likely, the new Congress won't matter either.

Trump is now tweeting about spending cuts - 100s of billions per Trump - using reconciliation, which is laughable. He doesn't need a debt ceiling suspension if true. They can run for half a year after the ceiling is hit using accounting tricks which is more than enough time to pass cuts.

Why I added the systems check part. That would be something Elon would do. How fast can they mobilize, have different people breaking down that large of a bill and create a twitter storm and backlash?

(Don't ask but I have done that before using email to a group of about 400 homeowners in an HOA. It worked, so I knew that if a legal issue started to go south against the homeowners, I could summon support quickly to show up in court so the judge would see a crap ton of voters sitting in the gallery. That also worked.)

My thought is that Trump just wanted this bill pushed through so that the pork gets passed along on Biden's watch and he can start with a relatively clean slate. Then Elon jumps on Twitter crapping all over it and Trump somehow gets bullied into backing Elon's stance although he just wants it to go away before he takes office.

Like both Trump and Elon but I don't see how two of the biggest alpha males in the world will work together for long, especially when they have fundamentally different views on spending and debt.

Maybe you are correct but there was sooooo much BS in that original 1500+ bill being dropped with few hours for members to break it down, just tingles my spidey senses.

I can't find anything on soembody challenging the $110B. Why is it $110B and not $90B. There's a big circle jerk about cutting programs that cost millions but nobody is challenging this program to spend billions.

When their Christmas time off starts getting cut into, they'll figure out something.

Having said that, this entire event has been a political abortion.
