Catturd? As of May it was over $175 billion and while I don't keep track directly I'm pretty sure it's well north of that by now, even at depreciated cost estimates (which of course means we will spend much more than that to replace what is written off and sent over).Teslag said:

🚨 UPDATE: Spending deal would suspend the debt limit until January 2027, meaning Trump would not have to worry about that during first half of term - Punchbowl

More debt. More government. Increasing the Credit Card $4 trillion with ZERO spending restraint and cuts. HARD NO. https://t.co/YX9BXW2M5t

It would push the debt ceiling out to Jan. 30, 2027, giving Trump two years of not having to deal with it. pic.twitter.com/tSnELAnskv

I think this stems from the fact that FEMA reported they had no more money. So, that's where this $110B stemmed from. I think.Dan Scott said:
I know but how did they come up with $110B to start. This is new spending. What was disaster relief in the original $7T budget and why do we need 110B more is what I'd like to know.

This bill isn't going anywhere, might as well wait until January and see if the makeup of the new Congress changes anything.

It's 4 weeks or so. Shut it down until then and pass it the day Trump takes office.

Why I added the systems check part. That would be something Elon would do. How fast can they mobilize, have different people breaking down that large of a bill and create a twitter storm and backlash?Funky Winkerbean said:aggiehawg said:

I don't see them as game players.
My thought is that Trump just wanted this bill pushed through so that the pork gets passed along on Biden's watch and he can start with a relatively clean slate. Then Elon jumps on Twitter crapping all over it and Trump somehow gets bullied into backing Elon's stance although he just wants it to go away before he takes office.aggiehawg said:

Maybe you are correct but there was sooooo much BS in that original 1500+ bill being dropped with few hours for members to break it down, just tingles my spidey senses.Ag CPA said:My thought is that Trump just wanted this bill pushed through so that the pork gets passed along on Biden's watch and he can start with a relatively clean slate. Like both Trump and Elon but I don't see how two of the biggest alpha males in the world will work together for long, especially when they have fundamentally different views on spending and debt.
You think Congress is mad now. Wait until we are officially up & running.
