Actually pretty shocked at this. How could they have been split on Count 1, but a unanimous Not Guilty on Count 2?

Jurors may not be book smart or legal smart, but they are probably street smart. Recognized the bait & switch that the prosecution tried to pull and wouldn't stand for it. Even if the defendant is a white man.
Thought there were 2 lawyers on the jury?

I think you're conflating a Trump jury
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because hard men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

I do believe there were also 2 lawyers on this jury as well.

Honestly, in the state Adams is in, i'm pretty sure he would squash this rather quickly.

AG Garland- Is that the an example of "threat of violence" you always refer to?

That idiot, neutered by, controlled by and brainwashed by marxist black lesbians is desperate to start a race war.
"We need some black vigilantes. People wanna jump up and choke us and kill us for being loud? How about we do the same?"

Strictly speaking, his bad grammar suggests jumping up and killing him and his followers...

He sure is loud.

Social media spreads like wildfire. I'm in LA. Me and my wife are mentally and physically prepared and monitoring the news.

"Two tiered justice system" indeed! Had Penny been anything other than a White male he'd have never been charged.

"For being loud"
Jordan Neely was loud, threating and aggressive in a confined space. That is a recipe for disaster. Of course the facts do not matter for the BLM race baiters.

When a man says he's there to kill somebody, you'd best take him at his word.

Clay and Buck had a woman (named Kristen ??) on who seemed familiar with the goings on here. She said this thing was made racial from the beginning by BLM and that there were really only 15-20 protestors being very loud outside the trial and that some of these same protestors were also involved in recent anti-Israel protests.

I'm glad Penny got off but unfortunately he'll still face civil lawsuit from the "father of the year" of Neely. Hopefully the jury there sees right through the blatant attempt at ghetto lottery.

Penny will be bankrupted in legal fees unfortunately. At least he won't be in jail.

And you had multiple black witnesses testify they were scared when Neely started going off and would be assaulted.

Is an acquittal here an affirmative defense in a civil trial?

How ironic that the season finale of Seinfeld (of course set in New York) that the entire premise of that episode was the foursome ignoring a man being robbed and cracking jokes about his weight instead and they were tried under the "Good Samaritan Law":

This is what New York will now look like for any future crimes.

Pretty sure they were in Massachusetts

Not a lawyer but you'd hope that carries some weight. OJ was acquitted but I think found liable in civil court.

Probably depends by state, but remember that OJ was found liable for wrongful death even though he was acquitted. Also, a lack of criminal conviction is not a finding of innocence, but merely a lack of proof of guilt. Logically, they're not the same, and with the relaxed burden in civil court, you could come to 2 different resolutions.

Yeah. The irony here is that Penny is on trial for killing him while trying not to kill him. If he'd had a gun and just shot him in the face, he'd probably be fine because an armed person making homicidal threats in an enclosed subway car is a clear cut case of immediate and mortal danger that justifies lethal force.

Good point, I forgot they were traveling and that the law in question was from Massachusetts.

It's still ironic that a show set in New York emphasized that law which they obviously will need in that city going forward as NOBODY is going to lift a finger to help any victim of a crime.

https://www.nydailynews.com/2024/12/05/bronx-bodega-owner-charged-released-without-bail-shooting-armed-robber-foot/

Unfortunately, no. Here's a man of color arrested for shooting two armed robbers at his bodega.

And here's another bodega who was given the process for killing an armed robber at his store

https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/19/us/new-york-bodega-stabbing-murder-charges/index.html

Now, his case was dropped by a judge but the da still gave him the business.

NYC has a two tier- criminals and everyone else.

And WHY is H. Newsome not arrested for "hate speech"??? Is that not a thing anymore...or does it only apply to...well, you know.

This jury did the judge a favor by acquitting Penny. Any conviction after the judge's actions on Friday would have been reversed on appeal.

How can these BLM idiots be allowed to scream for "some black vigilantes"?!

I love the black chick angrily yelling about the family of the deceased, pretending they will have a horrible Christmas, then ending with "GD America".

I'd bet everything I own that "family" hasn't been a "family" together ever. Nobody is sipping hot apple cider and discussing their favorite Christmas memories in that group.

Because while stupid and dumb, it's not a true threat or incitement.
