Oh. Did not know that's considered a cameo.

To think that this whole war would have been avoided if they just stopped naming kids with the same name.

Well so much for my theory of Alicent flipping.

I know Carrot Top. And I'm assuming Aegon the Conqueror is some ancient relative on one side or the other, I just have no clue which, or how far back, etc.

It blows my mind anyone could watch this show and still not know who that is. You must be dual-screening it.

Also, you've gotta stop with these tweets trying to hype up an episode hours before it drops.

She really can't flip with her dad gone.

As she said. It's to late.

And now even with the knowledge that she ****ed up Viserys' last words.

Love Alicent having the aha moment realizing he was talking about aegon the conqueror only to double down on the no mistake was made. She's right though, it's too late. Rhaenyra should've known better the man that Otto is, even if he were still in power as the hand he wouldn't listen to Alicent

I do think Alicent may commit suicide though. They've already hinted at it last episode in the bathtub.

I'm not sure what part she has to play now besides Cole's side piece.

Hype up? WTF are you talking about? I saw that tweet, then about five seconds later I scrolled past the spoiler itself. So I figured I'd post the warning, trying to help people out/keep them off social media for the next hour, before the episode started.

Sorry for thinking of you guys.

It won't happen again.

As for Aegon the Conqueror, I'm a casual viewer of this franchise, have never read the books, do next to no research, I don't watch with subtitles, etc. It's hard enough keeping track of the names of the characters we do follow, only about half of whom I can remember. So forgive me if I'm not also aware of all the lore, relatives, family trees, etc.

Seriously, who shoved a pole up your ass?

It's banter, dude. That character is mentioner or alluded to at least once every couple episodes.

And that tweet is absolutely trying to hype up a supposedly big cameo (which was a nothing burger in the end) and you definitely have a tendency to post these type of tweets before they air. They come off like people flexing they've seen an episode early.

Stop taking everything so personally.

There's basically a business around creating hype tweets for views around any show or movie that comes up. None of them ever have anything worthwhile to say, so its on you if you read any of it and get hyped.
I know that is how I feel, so I dont click the links or read any of it at this point, and its no skin off my back that its posted.

TCTTS, yourself, many others, frequently post articles and tweets about this show and every show, so it seems a bit silly to act like this was the one that crossed the line, lol.

I enjoyed the palpable tension between Cole and Gewayne when they were first introduced

(For TC: Cole is Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, and also happens to be banging Gwayne's sister.)

TC, how many years of Game of Thrones did you watch? And now 1 season+ of this show? Aegon the Conqueror is like the Alexander the Great of Westeros. Everyone knows who he is.

The acting on this show is exquisite. The lord of Harrenhal was great, Larys is great, even Aegon is pretty good. Rhaenyra crushed that scene in the sept, and Alicent's wtf look at her was hilarious.

For a second I thought Rhaenyra was sending her kids off with the eggs that Daenerys will later come to possess, but there were 4 of them. Maybe 3 of them are the same.

Interesting scene with Daemon and the Godswood tree

I know the Brackens and Blackwells or whatever aren't that important, but showing us at least a little scuffle would have been nice. Instead we got prosthetic head and naked Aemond.

Not really a fan of this episode. I'm tired of these people all acting like they aren't at war already. Also, the idea of Rhaenyra sneaking in to talk to the green queen was dumb. As soon as Rhaenyra for five steps away, the green queen could have just yelled for her guards.

And after doubling down on "no mistake" there was no reason not to.

I liked the episode, but that scene did feel kinda "show invention"-y to me, for whatever reason. (No idea if it was in the book.)

But I'll take it if only for the fact that I really wanted to see Alicent come to the realization that she misunderstood what Viserys said, and to finally see what the conversation would be between Alicent and Rhaenyra. I honestly didn't expect to get that conversation until at least Season 3.

Also, was that an on screen blowjob? I understand they push the line, but I didn't realize they're moving into hardcore porn.

Im pretty sure royalty in our own world would do this sort of thing frequently back in the day. Martin draws heavily from real world history for inspiration.

Thought that was the most well-rounded episode of the season.

Aegon filling out the Kingsguard with his drinking buddies; I'm sure nothing bad will happen there.

Everyone disrespecting Cole - nobody *** when he walks by and they start the small council meeting without the hand.

I thought the cameo was going to be GGRM as the big fat guy at Harrenhal.

The tension really ramping up between Aegon and Aemond

Really well done scene with the 2 queens - they really got into the patter of the younger actresses

Daemon finally having a tiny bit of a conscious

Alicent should have said, Criston, this my brother, Ser D-Bag, he's coming with you!

Queen Blondie Jr. starting to go off the deep end.

TC - not to beat a dead dragon, but Aegon the Conqueror is the impetus of the whole "Song of Ice and Fire" talk that Viserys has with young Rhaneyra. He knows about the white walkers and the whole reason he invaded Westeros in the first place (the Targs had been content on Dragostone fo several years) was because he believed he needed to unite them against the battle against the evil north of the wall. He rode the Balerion - the Black Death - the biggest dragon of all time, whose skull we see a few times in the storage facility at King's Landing, and he's the dragon, with Aegon on his back,, who originally burned Harrenhahl and got all the curse talk started. He also married and frequently impregnated both of his sisters, which is probably why this series isn't about him.

Also, I think we're at the point where we officially need a major scrap next week. I'm guessing we finally get the opening battle or dragon fight in earnest.

Maybe I just glaze over whenever in-world history is brought up on either show, as I literally could not tell you one historical fact prior to the events of this series.

That said, I bet most of the general audience couldn't either.

All I know is that I genuinely have no recollection of the words "Aegon the Conqueror" ever being said on screen, or anyone having ever told a story about him on either show. Or, maybe, if they did, I just thought they were talking about the Aegon in the present?

Two more

Did anyone else think the dagger Aegon was spinning at the small council meeting was the same one that Joffrey gives to the cut throat to try to kill Bran in Season 1 of GOT?

Great to see that we were somehow able to find yet some more incredibly rare Valyrian steel laying around.

I doubt it. Most likely, if they were to meet, it would be at some predetermined place where each side had equal forces. Here, Rhaenyra is basically on her own. She had the knife, but as soon as she got a few steps away, Alicent just has to yell and the war is basically over. There is no way Rhaenyra would make it out of Kings Landing once they know she's there. She would be killed or captured.

I liked the idea of Alicent finding out she was wrong, but the execution was terrible. It reminded me of something they would have done in the final season of GoT.

Okay, I *do* remember Viserys telling that story, I just don't remember there being a person/character at the heart of it. All I remember is the basic warning that "Winter is coming," and that that warning has been secretly passed down throughout the generations, among the rulers.

I thought it Ep 1 or 2, don't remember which, when he's walking around and it's sheathed in his belt. Can only see the handle, but it looks the same, to me.
