Yes Kaceys talk was Sheridan wrapping that up. They know to never come after anyone else in the family because Kacey is "just like them" and will kill them all.

Was I supposed to be rooting for Beth this whole time?

The finale felt like if Breaking Bad's finale was just Skyler White getting everything she wanted.

I can't stand anything about Beth, including the way she drives. They should have called the show "Beth is an Assh*le"

LOL at the first part of the show where the Indians dumped a couple sections of pipe into the lake and that was that. Nothing else about it. I'm not sure the builders of the pipeline would ever be able to recover from that. Some pipe dumped in the lake.

John, Rip and Beth, along with other hands were all murderers.

At the end of it all, I kinda wish I didn't waste my time watching this.

Scenery and Casey were pretty good tho…

1. My life would not have been complete without one more scene of spinning horses.

2. I was hoping both Jamie and Beth would die.

3. Great choice for the last song.

4. Even if this wasn't the last episode, like Rip I'm shutting the barn door on Yellowstone. It's been mostly fun.

I agree. A waste of pipe. Now those Indians gotta fish all that pipe out of their new home

My predictions.

Indians somehow wind up with the ranch. Jamie goes for a train ride. Kayce and his family ride off into the sunset, unconcerned about the fate of the ranch. Sheridan concocts some crazy scheme to keep the Rip and Beth show going.

I get the impression this was always the planned ending for the show, Kevin Costner or no Kevin Costner. It was the only way it could go with the seven-generation prophecy from "1883". Sheridan just had to kill off John Dutton a few episodes earlier than expected.

I'm betting that the old knife Beth used on Jaime plays a part in the new season of 1923 since they made a point to zoom in on it when she got it out of the gun case.

So how was Jamie's demise spinned publicly you think? They just train tracked that and said okay let's get to the perfect ending hallmark stuff now.

It was on the newscast. It said he was being impeached from office and that he was on the run. They had found his burned out car. Plus the detective is going to dig in to John's murder with the tips Beth gave him.

The fitting end to the show and the drama of the Sheridan/Costner ego battle would have been Sheridan spinning his horse on John Dutton's grave. At least they had the Indian kids knock over John's headstone.

And there's no way they cleaned up Jaime's house enough to not find significant amounts of Jaime's blood mixed with Beth's. No way a real, competent CSI team just finds that house as Jaime beat up Beth.

That was as predictable and boring a finale as there has been. As the poster above said, it had the ending of a Hallmark card.

I actually thought the ending was pretty good.

Sure, there was some filler and some untied loose ends. But the funeral and land deal elements delivered on the emotional side.

This would have been a far better show overall if Sheridan hadn't overextended himself. You can see how much better the focused, well-planned "1883" was compared to "Yellowstone" with its weaknesses.

But he found himself with a runaway hit and he took advantage.

What was with Travis going from saying "Schools over, Jimmy. You came out of it a cowboy" to Travis treating him like crap again?

Jimmy's story line was one of the best of the entire show.

I assumed that now he's actually working for Travis directly so he's treating him like an employee.

Seems like they left the door wide open for Beth & Rip and Kayce & wife to continue Yellowstone into more seasons. That would be a mistake IMO. They need to let this be the end and focus on doing justice to the spinoffs like 1923 season 2, 1944 and maybe 6666.

It's going to be Beth & Rip's show now. Already announced. Kayce/Wife/Tate are likely going to be retired outside of maybe a guest spot here and there. Monica got her peace so she can stfu now.

Don't care at all about the spinoff. That was the end of the show for me. And it generally ended fine. Glad it's over though.

Thought the ending was decent and Beth killing Jamie was predictable as was the land sale.

So I'll admit that I haven't watched any of these spin off shows. Are any of them worth watching? Anyone have any thoughts on 1923? I didn't see a thread on it, unless I just missed it.

the ending was not bad or anything, i pretty much knew the way it was all going to go down though.

I agree though....i dont really have much interest in a Beth and Rip show... what would it even be about?

Jimmy seemed happy at the end to no longer be the low man on the totem pole.

Spencer's storyline and scenes in season 1 of 1923 were great. The primary reason I'm looking forward to season 2. I'm hoping they don't mess this one up. The reading the letters episode might have been my favorite of all time for the franchise.

Raintree's storyline while brutal was the second best part of season 1.

The story line in Montana was average for the most part to me. It had a few good moments but many average ones and Timothy Dalton's scenes were bad at times.

A show with Beth as the main character will bomb in the ratings.
It will be one season max.

No idea, but oddly enough they'll have a reoccuring need for Sheridan to show up and spin his horse in circles.

I'm the other way around. I enjoyed 1923, but I didn't love it. Spencer's storyline was far and away the best part of that story.

1883, on the other hand, was awesome.

I doubt that. Most folks on here hate here, but there's a reason why you can buy hats, shirts, etc. that say "Don't make me go Beth Dutton on you".

1923 is the best show in this series. The native american story is pretty brutal in season 1 and james bond has some not needed scenes with women. Other than that, it's excellent. Native American story is really good, it's just a tough to take watching at times.

A ton of mixed feelings on the wrap up with season 5.2

My biggest negative things are the tons of things added that should have had more follow up and didn't.

-FBI raiding market equities
-Jamie meeting with baby mama, and his kid… not to mention
her advice and his subsequent speech was all for naught.
-The lieutenant governors speech removing Jamie from the both the death/land case and plan for eminent domain. So much more could have been done with that struggle
-John's assistant and the former governor/senators speech to her to leak stuff, never to be heard from again
-The foreboding of Texas being an option for Beth/Rip
-who got the money from the sale of "everything that wasn't nailed down" and the sale to the rez. Split evenly between Kayce and Beth? If so, both are now very very wealthy
-So many more things left wide open

If I had things my way, the assasination firm and Kayce's stuff hit the fan and they came after everybody, and the ranch hands/rip/kayce all fight them off with a final scene where Jamie sacrifices himself for Beth, fulfilling the "I'll be last thing you see" while also showing Jamie was redeemable, because until the last 8-10 episodes, he absolutely was. He was a supreme p word, but went to bat for his family a ton. The final fight between he and Beth was the most ridiculous thing in the entire series.

From there, Kayce makes the same deal, they bury John and Jamie with the rest of the family, and Beth/Rip buy into the 6666, spawning the beginning of the 6666 series that's been rumored. If they are not going to kill Beth off and run her into a spinoff or furthering of Yellowstone itself, a fresh environment and focusing more on Rip/Carter starting their own line of a ranch family would have at least given a ton of different storylines.

Less spinny horses, more balls to the wall action or emotional drama.

I wanted the Landman to find oil on Yellowstone and as a result Kayce telling John Redcorn the "deals off"

No more spinning horses
