Even the last season has a season finale. No?

It usually says "series" finale to season finale. I've been confused though if the second part of season 5 is the last or when they say final season they mean they are making one more full one.

I assume tonight was the wrap up of any non family members associated with the murder? Now it's just how Jamey is handled. I think it's pretty clear the hit was done to "bottle it up".

Also.

Who is the ranch hand Ethan(?)? Did they randomly add in a new character there?

The time warp that is Rip is hard to follow. He was in Texas when he found out about John but waited days till he got back to call and tell Jimmy? Do the ranch hands coming back from Texas even know about John? Has Rip and Kasey even been in a scene together this season? It's strange that the ranch enforcer hasn't even mentioned John was murdered.

I'm a little confused on Kayce's interaction with the hitman broker.

I had assumed the contract started and ended with John Dutton. That would seem enough to bring the ranch to an end and secure the airport deal. But the rest of the family is still at risk?

And it isn't clear to me what he gains from confronting the hitman broker. Force him to eliminate Jamie too? Stir up the airport deal people above Sarah? Or has only started to seek revenge, and this was just preemptive to protect his family from what's coming next?

edit - Grant seemed to have no idea who Kayce was. That says it would have to be preemptive action by Kayce to protect his family after what he does next.

Just now watching - aannndddd at the 4:31 mark we've got Taylor Sheridan and his skidding and spinning horses. Both wife and I grew up on ranches and it is soooooo tiresome that he has to do this all the time. But that's Taylor and his childhood insecurities.

I took Kayce's interaction with the broker as Sheridan's quick and easy way to tie up that part of the storyline with 2 episodes left. Now we know that they killed Sarah to "bottle it up" and that Kayce knows who they are and that "they are the same person" if they try to stop anything w the land again.

The last 2 episodes can now focus on Jamey and disregard the broker.

The contract did end with John, the broker says as much in the car by telling Kayce they're good and everything is done.

I think this was Kayce's way of seeking revenge and going after the organization that carried it through, along with protecting the family like you said. Not even Beth knew his plans. I think this was independent of the airport deal and Jamie.

He's doing what John would have done...make a statement to ensure everyone knows to think twice before going after the Dutton family. Kind of a staple theme throughout the show.

It also fits Kayce's character. He's calm, collected, and peaceful...until someone crosses the line and he has all the information...then he goes all-out...no mercy.

I can tell you one thing for sure. I've continued to watch "Yellowstone" despite the soap opera storylines and plot holes because I enjoyed the Montana setting. And I'll give "Landman" a try because Billy Bob is so ****ing awesome in that role. However, I will not spend one second watching a 6666 Ranch based series centered around Taylor Sheridan and his spinning horses.

I was surprised that, with only two episodes remaining in the series, they chose to spend so much of the remaining screen time on the death and aftermath of a tertiary character who many could probably not name.

Well, as I just alluded to on the "Wicked" thread, I actually saw people on X last night saying they couldn't stop sobbing over Colby's death.

I don't get it ... but I guess there are people who really get attached.

I liked Colby and Teeter's back and forth.

I actually like the Bunkhouse Crew. They're like half the reason I'm watching. They're entertaining. Their back and forth is funny to me.

As long as they continue on the next series, I'll watch that.

Had a similar but different thought. With only 2 episodes left, why are they killing off a well liked character in a way that has nothing to do with any storyline? Seems like a misuse of the remaining time with no payoff.

I have complete faith that Sheridan will tie that up in a bow that makes perfect sense and not just leave it hanging out there.

Just like the plane sabotage scene a few seasons back.

Had the same thought. We didn't need him to get killed. Just don't show him anymore if you don't want him in there. Plenty of characters that have just disappeared.

Think TS is just trying to fill up time until the finale. Hope it's worth the wait.

Or any of the dead bodies, reporters who were snooping around, John's cancer that disappeared (which would have been a good way to kill him off), or the wolves storyline, or the land Jamie bought, or the water redirection, or the meat processing plant they were going to build to save the ranch...etc,etc,etc

I've never seen a show start so many big plot lines, that die off in an episode or two, with zero explanation.

When Colby said "I love you" to Teeter, I told my wife that either Colby or Teeter was going to die. Too much of a TV trope.

I was really impressed with the horse attack scene. That horse was really well trained to show that much aggressive behavior.

Read that Colby did most of his own stunts in that scene too.

Oh, I most definitely do not think Casey was just sending out a warning and we are going to have two episodes about Jamie's demise. Jamie was just a stupid pawn.

No, Casey is building his team and the Broker is going to tell his hit team buddies what happened. This will be on the next episode. The last episode side will be Casey and his Seal Team guys going full medieval and finding out how deep the conspiracy goes after the slaughter.

Airport deal is completely abrogated. Land goes to the Duttons and Indians.

( please don't have a long drawn out vituperative scene with Beth skinning Jamie alive. I'd rather see spinning horses than see that stuff again…)
