How many episodes before this series kicks into gear? We've watched the first two for season 1. And while the 2nd was slightly better, they were both painfully slow.

The whole series is a pretty slow burn with a couple of more intense moments in later episodes. The intrigue and weirdness are what carries it imo and that ramps up significantly about halfway through iirc.

This is kind of one of those shows that people love or find really boring. I liked the intrigue and weirdness from the start and didn't mind the slow-burn, which it stays at for most of the season.

Best I can do for an update... I have a friend who is connected to this show somewhat on the production side... I asked him a few weeks ago "When are we getting season 2 of Severance?" and his response was - "Dude... **** Ben Stiller"


Not very informative but I found it hilarious and not at all what I was expecting

I've read somewhere that it isn't all chaotic and they have a plan in place. Its been a while since I read that article though, but I think they mostly disccused a lot more to explore inside of Lumen and the different departments and reasons for the goats and stuff.

IMO, I'd rather they get it right than quick. But three years is a long time. Probably exacerbated by the strike.

If not for the strikes, season two would have likely already aired in full by now.

That said, I've heard from multiple people now that Ben Stiller has been extremely frustrating to work with on this, not because he's an assh*le or anything, but because he shoots TV like it's film, and is waaay more meticulous than TV usually allows, which traditionally shoots far faster than film.

It's been long enough I'm going to re-watch after football season. I of course remember the main plot but it was so intricate no doubt I'll pick up a few new things. Can't wait for the tease of what is in store for season 2.

Wow…just watched season one…crazy show. Twisted…did not expect that about the wife. Like someone said above…Ms Casey seems robotic, similar to Westworld.

Waffle party was weird…Evil. Not sure how I feel about that.

Theory:
Mark's wife is "Dead". She was severed, but the chip was recording her "Macrodata". The chip is a means of consciousness transfer and the MDR team is organizing people's personality data for transfer or banking.

Just finished a rewatch to prepare for season 2. I was worried it would lose something since I already knew the twists, but I couldn't have been more wrong. I think the second viewing was even better. Highly recommend rewatching if you have the time!
