I got more of a San Fran/ Oakland vibe. But even then, Fishburn being so adamant about ignoring Gotham was odd.

Why does the Flash not just go back in time to before Man of Steel and let Clark Kent know what all is going to happen (Zod, Lex, etc)....
Could have averted all the death, destruction, and butthurt.

This constant plot hole is usually handled in Flash comics by virtue of the fact that time travel is common among his enemies as well. Sort of balances it. That doesn't really work in crossover titles as much unless they are Flash-centric, and, spoiler alert, it's probably not gonna go over in the JL movies, either.

quote:You mean, the plot of The Dark Knight Returns?
Reading the latest posts, I think I figured how they could have saved this movie. Ditch any thought of it being a Superman sequel and make it a Batman movie with Superman as the villain.
quote:I'm gonna help you out here. Don't ever see 3D. It is never worth it. Don't ever see IMAX unless it was filmed for IMAX or if it has received really good reviews.
And lastly, $18 for an imax 3D ticket? Last movie I see in theatres for awhile.

quote:Oh no, see, because the battle was in an uninhabited port area of the city....whichever city it was.
They basically just rehashed Man of Steel again, destroying the world.

And somebody explain the Darkseid reference thing to me. I don't remember them talking about that. What did I miss?
quote:I thought that music at that time was great. Really said "This person is so badass, she gets her own fight music". It could have been so much better if we hadn't already known that scene was going to happen from the trailers.
I will say this song was worth the price of admission imo. If studios keep injecting God of War-esque music into films to get the tone right, I will have less criticisms.

You have to wonder what lessons Warner Bros is taking from this whole thing. There are many to be gleaned - don't risk it all on one big film, don't create a tone that repels the audience, don't spend three years pushing a movie, don't make a movie that is intended just for the hardcore fans - but the one I hope they walk away with is a simple one. It's the lesson that explains the success that Marvel has found, and it isn't about being comedic or silly, as many of the studio's detractors think. The lesson is this: create characters we like. It seems so simple that it's almost dumb to say it, but it's true. Batman v Superman created ******* versions of the titular characters, versions that are hard to like. They may be cool or badass or whatever else, but they're not likeable. I don't want to spend time in a movie hanging out with this version of Superman. He's not charming or interesting. And when he feels bad (which is most of the movie) I don't feel bad for him, I feel irritated by him.

Batman and Alfred are very likeable and their interactions are the highlights of the movie - but a film like Justice League needs much more than that. It needs not only characters I enjoy hanging out with, it needs to be putting them together in interesting and unexpected ways. The Marvel movies aren't a hit because of the action or the FX, they're hits because people like the characters and they get excited seeing them talk to each other.
quote:Like a pissed off version of the shwarma scene....
Pretty good article. Not everyone needs to be someone you'd grab a beer with but they need to have some kind of chemistry. When I picture the JL right now, I see a bunch of people sitting at a table, scowling and not talking to each other.
