Ride means actually riding the motorcycle. Piney does help with business in the van and does ride the trike. All the references to Clay needing to step down when he can't ride had me thinking about it. But, I'm pretty sure in the past Piney has attended the meetings, spoken, but not voted. I think there is a sign in the clubhouse that says something about if you don't ride you don't vote.

Just found this on IMDB trying to find out more info:
quote:
What exactly does the "If you can't ride, you can't lead" rule mean?

Basically it means that if you're physically unable to ride a motorcycle, you're not fit to continue leading the club. This rule applies to the President, Vice-President and likely the Sgt. At Arms. So for example, Clay has bad arthritis to the point where sometimes very difficult for him to grip the handlebars of his bike. When it gets to the point where he simply can't grip the handlebars anymore, he will step down as President and they would vote another member for the position.

It hasn't been made clear if this affects all members and their right to vote in their meetings. But seeing as how it's not "You can't ride, you can't vote" this likely isn't the case. Though, there is a sign in the chapel that states "You don't ride, You don't vote" but Piney can't ride anything but a three-wheeler and still gets a vote, so the rule likley only applies to leadership positions. Also in Season 3, Tig's license gets suspended for 2 years and Kozik says "*****two years with no riding, no vote..." so as Tig is the Sergeant At Arms, he is still considered a leadership position, but he is still phyisically capable of riding his bike (and likely will even without a license) so perhaps season 4 will offer more details on the rules.

It mentions Tig which I had forgot about last season. When he loses his license Kozik mentions how he won't be able to vote, hence him getting in....

Sutter addressed the race issue in his blog this week.

Now if he could just address "don't ride, don't vote".

Meh episode. Nothing revealing...nothing mind altering. Clearly a set up episode for future story lines (Gemma and Mayor wife, Piney digging around, Bobby getting more disillusioned, DA trying to fracture club).

I accept these episodes as part of the overall scheme for a good season. Necessary.

They dug back to season 2 with Bobby's involvement with LuAnn and trying to frame him for her murder in front of Otto...further attempts to fracture the club, messing with a member's old lady.

I was trying to remember last night what all had happened in that storyline. I'll need to go read up on it.

Lots of troubles brewing for the club.

Guessing this was a bit of a cost savings episode as a few members were not shown, Opey, Kozik, fat guy, kind of funny they were 3 of the 6 voting in favor of running the coke.

Hope they don't kill off Bobby, he's one of my favorite characters.

+1

When the DA was talking to Otto last night and mentioned that Bobby's last name was "ELVIS", it reminded me of season one when he dressed up as an Elvis impersonator at a county fair/carnival/fund raiser. That fat dude in a white Elvis body suit was funny.

His last name is Munson, not Elvis. He refered to him as Elvis because he does the Elvis impersonation thing.

I always wondered why they never really did much with the Luann murder.

I had just assumed that Tom Arnold killed Luann - is that the generally accepted explanation?

Seemed like they put a crimp in the segregated theory. Looked like there were a few Vatos in the Arizona charter.

It is assumed that Luann was killed in the war between Samcro's video production co. and the video production co. run by Tom Arnold. Luann was embezzling money, Bobby caught her, and the "hush" was sex.

This was great. I love it when shows drop in story lines from more than one season back. It's almost like they're thanking everyone who's been dialed in from the beginning and wasn't confused by that part.

So let me see if I'm following this correctly....

John Teller wants SAMCRO to get out of the gun business. Clay disagrees. Clay and Gemma have a relationship. Teller gets killed and we're to believe that Gemma and Clay had something to do with it.

Flash forward.

The Arizona VP and SGT are cooking meth. Two of the members disagree. The VP and SGT kill one of the members in disagreement, and then they threaten the other with being exposed unless he goes along with the meth plan. He quits, and the meth gets voted in legal.

So you've got Clay outraged by the VP and SGT going behind the club's back and orchestrating the death of another member in order to keep the business going. That's EXACTLY what he did to Teller.

Man, that really is some Shakespearean bullsh.

He got out of the club. He was the one running the pet store that had covered up his tats.

Clay breaks the rules all the time...slept with a bro's old lady...got the club into drugs...broke a promise to Jax (promised Bobby the prez patch after telling Jax that Opie would get the prez patch)...I'm telling you, this "no ride, no vote" thing isn't gonna deter him from trying to run the club until the end.

Pretty wild episode!

Everything was going 25 different directions with that one. And yes, Hasselhoff talking about having a "big dong" made me laugh my rear off.

So many things are out there now. Several club members have committed cardinal sins, it will be interesting to see who survives.

One question I had...when Clay is talking to Unser, he says something about Unser's "one true love", or "life long love".....something like that. I assumed all along that Unser loved Gemma.....is it possible that Unser and John Teller.........???

I thought it was very clear he was referring to gemma.
David_Puddy
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, you can tell that Unser has always had a thing for Gemma. The affection she always shows him definitely doesn't help subdue those feelings.

So this may be a stupid question, but why in the world did Juice steal that brick? Wasn't quite sure if it was to purposely create chaos or if he was planning on snorting it or selling it.
pilgrim82
How long do you want to ignore this user?
One of the old, cryptic story lines is that Gemma wandered into Charming when she was 16-17, maybe a runaway, and a young officer Unser found her and took care of her. Gemma is Unser's "first love" or "life-long love".

Gemma lies to Clay about the content of the letters, Clay lies to Gemma about not knowing the content...that won't work out good.

I especially liked the line "...he cuts off my GD head and sticks it on the reaper pole..."

Juice was trying to the sample for the cops, and got spooked when the prospect was poking around. He went out in the woods with the intent to get the sample? Instead he fell asleep and missed his window. Now he is stuck with this brick and no way to safely get it back in storage.

I don't know, it was very unclear...
pilgrim82
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Juice took the brick to get a sample of the coke. It is supposed to be uncut, so the DA wants a sample to test to trace the origin to make a case against the Gallindo cartel. He couldn't get the sample in the shed because the Mayan was watching too closely, then he fell asleep in the woods (idiot!) before he could get the sample...now he is screwed.

Exactly. Not sure how this was unclear.
