Assume he's innocent:
Talk, and anything you say is going to be twisted, misconstrued, and used in the worst possible way.

Stay silent and it looks like you're hiding something

Either way the dude looks guilty. At least by not talking he doesn't give them any ammunition

And if he's guilty:
he's probably not talking because he doesn't want to go to the pokey


I don't blame him for not talking, but understand those who think he should

I get the desire for him to talk, but people advocating to make him give up his rights to make him talk? Come on. I heard on one news program someone lament the fact that he had the constitutional right to stay silent. These things that get tried in the court of public opinion are rarely what they seem to be to the people that are only getting part of the story, and with what little people actually know they want this dude to trash his rights. Over a girl they have zero ties to other than seeing her story on the internet!

All of that can and will be used against him though. He is literally playing it as safe as humanly possible as allowed by the law.

He may well be a 3x murderer but he still has rights as of now. I know id be happy to have the same protections should I need them.

It's been 3 weeks. Any information he has is probably pretty useless by now anyway, at least when it comes to her survival.

What will be interesting to know is if they can figure out where the van was vs where the cellphone pinged for the 8/30 text. He was back in Florida on 9/1, and that is probably close to a 36 hour trip in that van from the grand teton area. So there's a decent chance he was on the way back

Of course, but I shouldn't be compelled to and I would certainly hope infotainment news people and the rest of the nation wouldn't be lamenting the fact that I had the right not to.

Yes he looks suspicious and guilty and like he is hiding something and yes it looks like the wrong thing to do but I dont have all the info and no one outside of the investigation does, but I do know he is well within his rights and what you, I or the rest of the country thinks doesn't matter when it comes to that.

On that note, I do wonder how many girls this age go missing every year and why this one is getting all the attention.

If he's not guilty of anything I don't think staying silent is the safest move. It would take a VERY weird circumstance for his best play to be anything other than lawyer up and talk to the cops.

If I was him I wouldn't talk to the media, but if you get the cops to say "no longer a suspect" that is WAY better than staying silent and letting the world think you're guilty.

Every attorney, judge and even police officer talking about that subject seems to recommend not doing that.

Police can remember things completely differently, you can start babbling and offering up weird details, even sweating or being nervous can be used against you.

"I didn't shoot him!"

"I didn't tell you he was shot"

"Yeah you did!"

"No I didn't"

Though if everyone did this for every little thing I have no clue how the police would do their jobs

He has an attorney that can be present during questioning. He has the right to only answer the questions his attorney tells him too. I honestly don't see how anyone could just refuse to answer ANY questions about a missing person that they loved.

Anyone who has watched that video could come to no other conclusion than she is bat shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit crazy and he is more likely to kill himself than her.

At most, he could feed some extremely basic info thru the attorney. If I was the attorney, I wouldn't want him speaking directly. Sure, you can stop him before he answers a question, but you can't control him going someplace with an answer you don't want him to go or the cops twisting an answer against him.

If he is innocent, no matter how much he wants to help, he's suspect #1, #2, and #3 if something happened to her after you left her. And again, it's been 3 weeks.

I agree people shouldn't lament his rights and I haven't seen anyone saying he should be compelled. I was commenting on your issue with him being "excoriated". He should absolutely be raked over the coals for not talking but that's a lot different than being compelled by force.

It's a full blown circus. Likely a thousand plus people camping outside their house now. Multiple news agencies live streaming even though pretty much nothing is going on.

Weekend is just starting, Everyone bored within 50 miles probably going to visit.
