Texas NIL laws made her go out of state

This one hurts. Her commitment had natty repeat written all over it.

Absolutely - hoping we add another piece or a repeat will be difficult. Not impossible, but difficult.

It sounds like Liv had trust issues. I don't want to harp on her or fault her in anyway she seems like a nice girl. But if the issue was she needed absolute certainty before committing then in reality she didn't trust A&M to keep its word. That's a real shame because Mark did everything right and legal to try to get her on campus. The money was there. Oh well no point in lamenting or complaining about this, we move onto the season.

Apparently US and OSU had higher NIL offers than Duke, but Duke was able to put it in writing like she had needed. She's a one year rental

Semester. Like Kypson was for our men

We will be just fine. Excited to see us go for the repeat!

"She's a one year rental."

This is what NIL is doing to college sports, darn it.

to be fair tennis, basketball and any pro sport not governed by a U.S. based entity has always had 1 year rentals. For instance someone earlier mentioned Patrick Lipton on the men's team was several years back. Plus with tennis it's even less impacted than other sports because the amount of international students that play tennis and the fact that they can't earn NIL based n their VISA most likely. All NIL has done for tennis is allowed a select few american players who might have gone pro to play some college tennis with their prize earnings being substituted by NIL.

So we got played. I'm not upset, it was worth a shot. At least she announced it with some time before the new semester, and I have no belief that the even though the transfer window closed last week that it has any limit on actual transfers anymore.

But let's focus on the important things in life. This Christmas season may you be comforted knowing that the World Series MVP doesn't have his new ring yet, but he can spend the family holiday admiring his cousin's NCAA championship ring.

Mary Christmas and Avery Happy New Year!

i may be wrong, but i think the transfer window closing just means that new players can no longer enter, not that if you're already in it you're no longer able to transfer.

Wise choice for her.

Is it time to start predicting lineups and finishes for the SEC?

And you can always get a grad transfer as long as they're enrolled in school by the add/drop date which will be by the second week of classes! So lots of time to go Christmas shopping

Agree it is the wise choice for her. She's playing top 100 level already. A semester of college doesn't help her.

Texas will still be very good, but this is obviously a huge blow to them. On paper, it's still Georgia, A&M and Texas at the top of the SEC, but Texas at the bottom of that instead of the top. Stanford is a legit NCAA title contender.

We can beat anyone, but just like last year before Carson, we are one player short of being the best on paper.

It will be interesting to watch #5/#6. Daria, Lexington, Jeanette, and possibly Jennifer? Jeanette has the experience edge, clearly.

Can't wait for another great season!

Nicole wins the Israel National Championship 6-2, 6-3. Actually, she repeats her win from 2021. I think she likes repeating championships.
Congrats Nicole! Chag sameach Hanukkah.

Got it. Thank you.

Is she injured? No recent matches.

PTT Newport Beach seems to be the place to play this holiday season. Carson and Kayal will play there starting tomorrow. Other notables are Kayal's sister, presumptive #2 at Wake Forest, and USD's Kailey Evans (ITA #31, transfered from Tech). Matches should be available to stream via prime video.

Kayal wearing maroon and white and tied 1-1 in the first set against USC freshman Simone Kay.

Carson has a bye today.

Joffe replaces Maya Joint with Salma Drugdova (UTR 10.57) of Slovakia. Immediately makes them better. Does Mark have anything left up his sleeve?

Not surprising and not nearly the caliber of Maya but would likely play #5 for us.

I did think winning our title would open the flood gates. Seems like we had at least one immediate impact recruit every year except this year. Carson, Salma, Mary, Mia, Luci, Nicole, etc. all plugged immediately into the top / middle.

Hopefully Mark is simply working his Liv contingency plan.

We've seen Daria pick up some big wins over the fall. I'm assuming she will factor into the lineup and if that's the case, along with Jennifer and Lexington, perhaps he feels we are set?

We have a scholarship open. I always thought we'd fill with a transfer currently playing #1 or #2 somewhere that wants to play with this team and win a title. Similar to Ava but higher ranked. Liv would have been perfect but surely there is a solid backup plan.

I'm optimistic we will add one more piece. Carson happened last year when many thought that wasn't an option.

Kayal lost a close one in three sets yesterday. She plays against Northwestern junion Jennifer Riester tonight at 8:30 on court 18.
Carson plays at 2:00 pm on court 19.

6 Days until Hawaii Invitational.
