No, they were going to have one lap either way but, initially said the cars between HAM and VER could not be passed. At the end (at least it appeared last second on TV), stewards said they could pass and ended safety car which normally would have been an additional safety car lap.

Yeah. That's why I was confused. I mean I think the way it ended was the most "fair" and exciting as hell. But I was confused. I'll rewind eventually but I could have sworn once the cars overtook the commentators said it'll end under the safety car.

Because it's not consistent.

Which has been a theme this year with the rulings so it's probably perfect that it ended that way.

Best part of that race was seeing all that Checo has in him while battling to keep Hamilton behind him to allow Max to gain time. That was incredible!
