What's the deal with the announcers dogging Max
Agree. Not sure why they are punishing him so much.
Max races excessively aggressive. Like I said earlier he needs some more maturity.
And I like him. I'd like to see him win the championship. But I can still see that he doesn't give up when he should at times.
I think that's why they started piling on.
Funny enough Max caused no incidents today. Unless you're going to argue that he brake checked him. I didn't see any lights. Lewis on the other hand made contract with two cars.....
Hamilton could overtake but he didn't!!! pic.twitter.com/imerbq9WQG

I think that's a fair assessment.TulaneAg said:
As someone who's driven on track for a few years, I don't think Max did anything wrong per se, but what he did was unexpected and that creates chaos.
Ham is locked onto his bumper and as soon as he realizes Max is checking up he's wondering what's wrong? He's looking for a crash beyond Max, a yellow flag, a yellow signal on the electronic flagging system... If he passes Max under any of those scenarios he's getting a penalty. People don't just slow down and let you pass in F1, especially Max.
It took Hamilton a second to process what was going on. I've had more close calls on track exactly the way it came about with Hamilton than all of my other close calls combined.
I've also been in Max's position in this instance and you get impatient that the guy behind you isn't taking the gift you are giving them... And after a second or two you say *****it and put your foot back into the gas.
That's what I saw today

For the first time since 1974, our top two go into the finale TIED on points 🤯#SaudiArabianGP 🇸🇦 #F1 pic.twitter.com/aWnshxNyT7
So bad...How does Lewis not avoid hitting him there? That's like rush hour traffic 101 and this guy is arguably the GOAT. Wild race today.Furlock Bones said:

Penalty doesn’t alter Verstappen’s finishing position. Full decision here. We head to Abu Dhabi all square! pic.twitter.com/WCQpzCxWbo

Yep. You can't take a break in the middle of a race and block the track while weaving like a drunk.nai06 said:
That is some garbage right there. 10 seconds for breaking?
Y'all are really oversimplify the situation. If Lewis had passed right there they would have crossed the DRS detection line with Lewis in the lead. This would have given Max DRS down the straight and he would easily retake the position. Max played his hand later when he gave the position back for a spot where he then retook it within a second. Max was playing games with the "give the position back" and not really following what he needed to do.La Fours said:
Doesn't affect the outcome of the race so whatever. But seems like a load of **** to me to claim his braking was erratic. Hamilton had opportunity to pass and obviously his goal was to pass Max to be in the lead. So because Max braked to give the position back, he got penalized? It would make sense if Max braked and swerved. But oh well.
At this point, I expect Lewis to win the race next week and win the title. Max doesn't have the straight line speed in his current engine to beat Lewis.

Hamilton Keeps saying max hit the brakes heavily. It's clear that's not what happened. You can see it very clearly from the over-head view.
Like the announcers said, Max was going slow the entire straight, and Hamilton just cut it too close and ran into him. Hamilton playing the victim and saying Max brake-checked hi is ridiculous.
All that said...what a freakin fun race for the fans. I loved that.
Horner had told him like two laps earlier to give the place back - why the wait? Oh, give it back "strategically" was the instructions - in other words "play games" - should have given it back immediately (and Lewis would have understood what Max was doing) - after two laps past the cutoff to gain an advantage he's assuming Max isn't giving back the place.La Fours said:
Yes, I did over simplify it. But is the end goal to not to be in the lead and win the race? Max was trying to use a good and legal strategy. He didn't weave down the track like a drunk. He braked so that Hamilton would go around him. This isn't like brake checking someone in traffic who is riding your ass. I don't think Max was trying to cause a collision. He wanted to give up the spot at the best place for him on the course. That's smart racing, and I would expect Hamilton to use that strategy as well if he were in that position. I want to say he did similar in a race earlier this year. Had Max continued around the track, then the conversation is he isn't giving the place back in a reasonable amount of time.

Was it 2 laps prior Max was told to give the place back? I honestly don't remember. It didn't seem that long between hearing the radio call and the incident in question. But I could be wrong.
