So braking late is against the rules?

I think I know why the stewards have been making these rulings.

It's to add to the drama for the upcoming season of Drive To Survive.

Guess it's time for that new Redbull power unit now too.
I was thinking the same thing too....and then I thought that Hamilton may take a penalty as well....so you could have both VER and HAM racing through the field...

Speaking of DTS, since it's now a two week break and over the half-way point, anyone want to start guessing the DTS episodes for Season 4?

1. Merc/RB championship battle
2. Lewis/Max championship battle
3. George Russell
4. McLaren / Ferrari battle (including today)
5. Haas struggles (never fails to have one Haas episode)
6. Ocon/Alpine victory (and Alonso success)
7. Sprint races

Thoughts?

Man, I love the guy. He's typically so even-keeled, and analytical. I like his demeanor

Honestly a bit surprised Hamilton didn't get a point for trying to reverse out from under Max. That could've been ugly easy.

As much as I don't want to see Hamilton break Schumi's record for 7 titles, it was the right call.

Max knew he wasn't going to make the corner for turn 2. I have a feeling he made up his mind before turn 1 that he was sticking his nose in there no matter what.

I remember thinking after the Silverstone collision that this would very likely happen again. Unfortunately, I was right and I still think it will happen again before the end of the season. I just hope one of them doesn't put the other in the hospital or worse.

Crazy race. Seems like a miracle Max's tire didn't break Hamilton's neck. Hate all these penalties.

Love seeing McLaren at the top today.

Yep, it was bad and looked bad - yet, Max just walks away and doesn't even show any concern if Hamilton is okay or not. Sure you might be pissed and think Lewis caused it but come on - help to see that the other driver is okay. Lewis is arrogant but Max is a dick.

And great seeing McLaren back in winning form.

When Max walked away, Lewis was still trying to back his car out from under the Red Bull. It wasn't until Max was a few feet away that you heard the Merc team telling Lewis to turn it off.

But let's clear this up a bit. While Verstappen did storm off rather quickly back to the pits, he did look over at Hamilton upon exiting his Red Bull and he appeared to be about to walk over to the Mercedes.

But as Verstappen explained: "He was still trying to reverse when I was already out of the car, so when you're not fine, you are not doing that."

Perhaps Hamilton should have been afforded more concern from his rival, but walking over to a car that, in Verstappen's view, may have started moving, probably wouldn't have been the wisest decision.

Pretty wild stat that builds the Hamilton/Merc perfect storm of WDCs picture.

First DNF for Lewis in 63 starts. If you go back to his last DNF before that it's something like 84 starts with 2 DNF.

Yeah I would assume the Lewis is okay too when he's trying to rock the car out from being stuck.

Man what a great season for all of these new American F1 fans.

We've had several fantastic races this season on top of a back and forth between the old champion and the new challenger.

Love it.

I've been saving Drive to Survive to watch when I fly after avoiding it the first two seasons and wow, what a series. F1 owes Netflix a bundle.

I assumed Max was trying to avoid Lewis because he didn't trust himself to get that close to him. I'm sure he was fuming.

I posted a theory earlier in this thread that DTS hit a perfect storm of circumstances last year that allowed it to explode in popularity. The pandemic combined with the success of "The Last Dance" had people screaming for any kind of sports documentaries to replace the non-existent live sports.

F1 has always been popular everywhere but the States. Its weird hearing people talk about it now after spending the last 35 years following it as an almost underground sport.

Schumacher Trailer dropped:

Netflix released Schumacher last night. I watched it and thought it was pretty good. It skips over most of his dominant years at Ferrari as well as some key rivalries (no Kimi, Montoya, or Alonso). The last 10-15 min are pretty heartbreaking as his family talks about life after his accident.

Checo will be in Dallas down by the AAC on 10/16. Apparently he'll drive around in a retired F1 Red bull car...there will also be motorcycle stunts, and exotic cars.

Quote:

Checo Prez will arrive in Dallas, Texas on October 16 as part of the Red Bull ShowRun. The exhibition, open to all public, will begin at 10 in the morning and will take place at the PNC Plaza.
For the first time, Red Bull will bring its ShowRun event to the Lone Star State, where fans can get up close and personal with all the speed of racing, as well as motorcycle stunts and a parade of exotic cars. But, this time, we will also have the participation of the runner Sergio Prez, who is part of the Red Bull Racing team in Formula 1 together with Max Verstappen.
The event It will last 4 hours and is suitable for all audiences.

Great! Can't wait to see Checo drive over all the curbs and qualify behind all the motorcycles and exotics cars..

They'll probably set up ramps, so he can jump the curbs

It's free, so might be a fun way to kill a morning with the kids...

Maybe if Max was gonna be there, they would break out the ramps. But we all saw what happened the last time he tried a jump in his car.
