I agree RB's race strategy is very bewildering. Look at Max's pit stop in not having the left rear tire ready for pit. I would love to know what the team does in between races when they have two weeks between races

I think they said on air that Max's pit stop was a late call and the crew had to scramble.
And Max wasn't dealing with Bottas. It's a 2 person race.

Yes but Merc probably wouldn't have sent Hamilton on the two stop if they knew that he would have to pass the RB #2 on his way to Verstappen.
The fact he only had to pass his teammate (Bottas didn't make it easy lol) made their decision to pit twice a no brainer once they realized Verstappen's tires would be shot.

When Merc knows they will at worse get a 2nd-3rd, it frees them up to split strategies and get aggressive. If Perez is up there, there's a chance they get stuck with a 3rd only AND the team they are competing for the championship with could land the 1st-2nd.....then they probably get a little more conservative. It's time for Perez to get in the fight.

I think they kinda tricked RB into thinking Merc was committed to the 1 stopper, and RB thought holding track position would be the better strategy.

Merc's race pace was better to so even if RB had tried to cover them off it wouldn't matter. Just a **** situation for RB today
New to this thread and sport and just finished season 3. Wondering why the safety crew looked so minimal in handling the fire and crash. Surprised that as this level of sport that emergency crews seemed minimal and ill prepared. Thoughts on this?
Bahrain is a little over 3 miles around the circuit. Fire happens fast, there is a lot of safety crew around but have to cover a lot of ground to get to any one spot. I would bet things were different last month for this seasons race, more personnel and more fire extinguishers spaced out but I don't know that for a fact.
Read into Niki Lauda's crash. Over 14 mile circuit at Nrburgring back then, not many safety personnel. His fellow drivers saved his life as was common in those days.

Very interesting. Really highlights how good the Mercedes has been in this era. Teams have scratched and clawed to cut into that dominance, but everything they do comes at a cost. You can get close, but your car just isn't as good.

Definitely with how Ricardo is performing this weekend. It will be surprising if he gets points this weekend.
Worth noting, Gio snuck an Alfa into Q3.
Max will need to beat Charles by .4 or so in sector 1 to take pole I think. The Red Bull just isn't handling the low speed middle sector as well.
