I have no idea where Spurrier's head is, but as a former teacher (seasonal work like coaching), I can say that at the end of every school year I was exhausted from giving it everything I had and not sure I wanted to go back the next year.

Every fall I would return fully energized and excited to do my best because I loved teaching and still do.

The only reason I am no longer a teacher, is because of the non-teaching part of the job that is taking over.

If I had my equivalent of Sumlin offer me a teaching only job, I would jump at the chance and be renergized again.

The more I think about it, the more I think that bit of the letter from Spurrier was him trying to tell South Carolina fans that he wasn't INTENDING to take another major coaching job when he left and preparing them for the idea that he will end up taking such a job now.

Think about it, can you imagine the backlash if South Carolina thought we were trying to steal their HC in the middle of the season? We saw what happened when LSU found out we were talking to Chavis right before their bowl game. Now imagine if they thought we were trying to undermine their whole season? That would be very bad for our relationship with them and the rest of the SEC.

Spurrier doesn't want to cause that kind of trouble and I think he was honest in saying it wasn't his intention. The HBC is nothing if not truthful when addressing the public and the media.
