If his dad wasn't an Aggie there wouldn't be near the obsession by our fans….and that shouldn't be a qualifying or disqualifying factor either way. But many think it should.

This is a very overplayed take. I didn't even know his Dad played here (in the 60s) until those that don't want him started spouting it this week. I like that he has experience, success and Texas recruiting ties. I'm not even saying he's my #1 choice (he's not), but I'm not sure my top choices are actually options. And I think he's a very good option.
A HR by a player that, to date, has been way better than our 3B was last year and we kinda like having him around and sure seemed to miss him this year. It's really not overplayed. You are very much in a very slim minority. Scroll the board and nearly every argument for him mentions his dad being an Aggie. Started when tv folks mentioned it every 30 seconds on the broadcast during our series with them.

I haven't seen anyone mention that as a reason we should hire him. When its brought up, its in the context of why he would be interested in the job.
I also think its interesting that people are out on Vaughn but think Earley just needs time and experience. Vaughn and Earley are nearly the exact same age. Vaughn just has a better track record to date.
Six games at once sounds a lot better than it is. Difficult to follow the action, and I can't read any of the scoring info. I'd need to be sitting right in front of the TV to have any appreciation for it.

So what's the offset of a big HC improvement with a massive talent deficiency? Or do we have the money to buy top transfers again? Did Earley promise he'd actually make the guys train in the fall? What was his take on being able to steal one from Mizzou on the road?

I never thought it was even remotely possible we would fire a first year coach without a major scandal (Kermit Davis is my example).

I don't think our fanbase is unique on this. Pretty confident if Texas was searching for a coach and some longhorns kid was an up and comer coach they'd be wanting him too…but I'm fine with the announcement Earley is staying.
