Not sure why Anger is needed to rationalize moving on to another coach.

My point on your melancholy thread, there was zero sign of you wanting him back at that time. If you had actually said you wanted Early back prior to the tournament it would carry a little more weight for me.

Anyway, you want him back. That's fine.

My stance has not changed. No post season means new coach. I prefer a coach that does not bring thoughts of melancholy with regards to watching them play.

I'll pass. We could do worse, but we deserve a lot more.

For a first year coach Earley did great. Our schizoid fan base needs to make up its mind if it wants up and comer coaches or not when a known good coach isn't readily available or the situation simply dictates it makes no sense to wait to hire.

I don't think Trev will take dictation from fans. So might want to frame the proposal so he will listen.

Deserve doesn't matter. Who this current AD with this current administration would likely go after and hire within his budget is what matters.

I agree.. I am for Earley... was this year disappointing and just plain head scratching at some points... yes for sure.. not denying that at all... BUT .. I feel that Earley just like any other coach that would have came in and not had a good year, you give it 2 seasons... I know some folks will holler and say NO ... one and done, but if that's the case, especially with us, you loose, recruiting, you loose some players that would have stayed, etc.... and then there is also the money aspect.....

Also, what if we get rid of Earley, and he is picked up by another team and from here on out he and his teams are top notch and whoever we bring in in his place ends up being no better or worse even... then it is no better or worse than if we would have kept Earley... ( and yes i know that is a hypothetical) but it is a thought...

If he did this with the best roster he'll ever have, how's he gonna do moving forward?
I wish him no ill will but Texas A&M baseball deserves better.

The ones that want a new coach think we have a better chance of winning tonight than the ones that want to keep him.

I hope Earley is our coach next year, because to me that means we win the SEC tournament and get into a regional.

Otherwise, time to do a proper coaching search and bring in someone else.

This is my first time posting on this forum.

There seem to be two camps, one group wants to release him & the other wants to keep him.

For the group that wants to release Coach at the end of the season (unless we win the entire thing), everyone y'all have listed appear to be in the Field of 64, hoisting regionals, and some even being top 8 seeds. One of the coaches that is on the list might even make it to Omaha (Tony V.). That means when the portal opens, rumor is we will lose players and will certainly be losing ground / time in rebuilding the roster for 2026 waiting for the new staff to arrive.

For the group that wants to retain Coach, I think everyone would agree something has to change. How can one of the best hitting / productive teams in 2024 have their hitting coach become their head coach and regress in 2025. I know that everyone can point at the injuries for why we are not more productive at the plate. I know the situation what we were delt at the end of the CWS with the prior coach put the new staff behind the eight ball in terms of roster building (recruits and transfer portal).

I don't know what the right answer is but do know that us, as a fan base, need to support whatever decision is made. If Coach stays, think 2026 will be a rebuilding year because a lot will be lost (givens - Jace, Lampkin, Prager; probably - Kent, Royo). Today's lineup will show how thin we are in reserves. Maybe that's talent or playing time. Only time will tell.

Hoping this post will bring some pragmatic and logical responses. Sure someone will fire a "too soft" comment but that's life in the serengeti.

I'm definitely more on the "its time to make a change" side but I do think saying the game today should decide his fate is very unreasonable.

Just look at the roster we are running out there tonight against a fresh LSU team and their ace pitcher. Winning this game would be rather shocking. A loss in this one game is far from being a fireable offense. Losing this game shouldn't have an impact on whether you keep him or not.

Firing him and making an underwhelming hire could do us a lot worse.

I would love for us to go on a run and make a splash in the post season and for Earley and co to prove everyone wrong.

But we've seen so many miscues all season that are inexcusable. From situational fielding, swing decisions, overall batting approach, etc. Its too much to ignore IMO and can't be waved off due to injuries. Players like Jace having down years is unfortunate, but I could forgive that. It's just the lack of general fundamentals that we exhibit weekly that is concerning.

If Earley comes back, I will fully support him and the team, but I also would lean on the side of making a chance barring a championship run this weekend.

I think if the team beats LSU tonight, he will be retained. If we lose, I think there is a better chance of him being fired.

Anybody with legitimate head coaching experience would be an upgrade.

What happens when coach returns and we have another year like this one, or worse?
