I did not see it as enough evidence to confirm or overturn so probably a good no-challenge. I think they would have said the call stands.

I feel like unless you can guarantee there will not be a need to use both of the challenges with at least two innings and maybe multiple more innings left, it is an even risk and neither dumb or smart. If your player insists he was safe then you probably use the challenge but I don't believe the runner exhibited a high level of conviction he was safe so why use it. And I still believe the replay would not have supported an overturn so how is it dumb not to use a challenge on a play that would not have been overturned? I don't get your logic unless you are confident the play would have been overturned.

This has been an incredible CWS so far. So many good games.
It's going to be tough to get a run against Neely if he can stay on with his pitching. He is good like Asch and maybe better raw talent.

Even though it would make our start time later, it would be great if this one goes 20 innings.
I have a greater conviction that the play would not have been overturned. It's a one run game and could easily go to extra innings so I won't assume there are only two to play. I will grant you that you are more likely to get an ump review in late in a tight game if you are out of challenges so you could more correct than me based on that but I just did not see enough objection from the player to use a challenge and I think it would have been wasted so that is no better than leaving in your pocket in a game you ultimately lose by one run. Just my opinion based on how I look at risks and the probability of success with the challenge. The main thing I disagree with you on is that it is inherently dumb. I think it doesn't have to be dumb or smart either way.
Whitaker has been huge, and really helps NC St if they can win this game.
Why oh why pitch to Cags......that one very dumb mistake may cost NC State their season.
