Can we all take a step back and remember this team was not good the last 4-5 years. We are naming said players on that team. Lee, is a huge loss, as for others not so much.
As for recruiting, just wait to all the musical chairs get put into place…

We need to land some players soon. If we lose 4 or 5 to the portal, that means we need to add 6 or 7. Our roster was already small.

As a senior, Herzog hit .248/.341/.395. Of the regulars, that slash line puts her as about the 8th best hitter on the team.
In the circle, she was 9-8. By the end of the season, she was arguably the #2 pitcher on a bad staff.
KBA is correct; her departure isn't devastating. Remove the emotions. Objectively, she was maybe an average SEC player as a senior only because she was a two-way athlete. That spot can be upgraded.

Not trying to shout anybody down actually - but to say that herzog is not a big loss is just not being very informed.
That's just a knock on a great kid who couldn't hardly play the outfield because she could barely throw overhand.

I think both Lee and Hertzog are big losses.
But I will wait to see the final roster be developed.

That's what I'm saying and it isn't laughable if she wanted to continue to pitch, and be a DH every game, as well. I would've taken her back with her understanding your just pitching for us this year. We'll see if we can fit you into the OF/DH once a week but your here to pitch.

Wow, I hope you're not spreading your thoughts to incoming or potential recruits. Honestly, I wish I would've put on here when Ford got hired who would be leaving, the names that have come out aren't surprising and I thought we'd lose 2-3 more.
It's always been my understanding that our recruiting class plus her recruiting class would intertwine( not all of A&M or ASU's would come to Aggieland) and sprinkle a few transfers in.

Let's be honest, realistically in order to offer some full rides to studs especially pitchers we had to lose some. You would be surprised how many are/were on the roster that have/had full rides and hardly contributed. Some never even seen the field, which I'm sure Ford is scratching her head about right now, looking at the books from previous years.
If there is a bright side to losing Lee and Herzog, which at the moment may not be, it'll be freeing some additionally money to offer more quality recruits.

Need to be recruiting 2025 #1 nationally ranked softball player from Conroe, Tx, Alisa Sneed. 5 tool beast. Power and a burner. Also runs track and plays basketball. Great kid and family.
For every current or now former player and recruit there is a backstory unknown to most of us. If any are not thrilled to be part of the new regime, they and we are advantaged by their leaving or not coming to Aggieland.
The absence of impressive, public talent acquisitions thus far is surprising, but Ford deserves our trust that she will, given a couple of years, rejuvenate a highly disappointing program. Let's embrace the change we greatly desired.
