I think every 4 years is still a good time frame, it gives the judges enough time to try out places multiple times. After they are established places, meaning the reader can feel confident those places will be open a year or two after the list is published (exception: Brazos BBQ in Cresson.) I'm in the favor of the top 10 new places to try on a yearly basis, as it gives the reader options to try that they might not have heard of (i.e. Black Board BBQ in Sisterdale.)
As to Louie's versus Black's, well, that's like, well, your opinion, man. I have my opinions, based on multiple visits each location. I've shared them here. If you don't agree, well, that's like, well, your opinion, man. Best thing in the world, is that we can eat wherever we want to. #thedudeabidea
I think the one thing that we can all agree on, however, is that good BBQ is worth eating. And I think this thread encourages all of us to eat the best barbecue we can find.
That being said, I plan to have a nice tray of great barbecue and Evie Mae's on Friday morning. If any of you happen to be in the neighborhood, feel free to join us. The wife and I intend to arrive between 10 -10:30am on our way to Ruidoso.
P.S. we plan to have dinner tomorrow night at Vagabond Pizza in Abilene. (Aggie owned and operated!)
There was a long thread on premium yesterday arguing over if Lubbock or College Station was the better college town, and all I could think was "Lubbock has Evie Mae's, and we don't"
It's so good, enjoy it. Make sure to get some of that jalapeno cornbread if you've never been there before!
