Went by Pinkertons for lunch today, had the brisket, jalapeno cheese sausage and a rib. It was good, but nothing special. Don't have any need to go back.

Grant just landed on Forbes' 30 under 30 list yesterday.
I think Pinkerton's is solid all around. I like them because they're open until 9PM and their meat is just as good in the evening. Oftentimes I'll stop by when I have an evening flight into Hobby.
When he first made the transition from catering/events to this location, he was pulling both turns on the pit by himself, living upstairs and basically getting no sleep. He's got help now and they're still doing multiple turns on the pits, so at dinner you aren't eating the afternoon's leftovers. Grant WORKS.

I don't live in Houston, but when the chance comes to go to Pinkerton's, I'm going. What that man did during Harvey was unreal. Gave away so much food to first responders. He just seems like an awesome guy.
And/or really good at marketing.

Stopped by Bigfoot BBQ's trailer in Cypress today. They're by The Shack on Telge, and while the setup is very meager, i enjoyed the brisket and dirty rice enough to not regret not going to some of the other meh BBQ spots around here.
Just FYI, Franklin preorders are back online, just ordered some bbq for 21 Dec and looked to have availability all the way through 4 Jan

Did the same trip except sub terry blacks for kerlin (not in top 50) about a month ago with three other guys. Be interested in yalls experiences, mickelthwaits throughly disappointed for the fact that they're supposed to be top 10.

If you're doing it for the sticker, go get a sausage link from Micklethwait. However, Kerlin BBQ (right up the road from LA bbq) is head and shoulders above Micklethwait. I highly recommend going to Kerlin and getting ribs and brisket.
So sad hearing all the bad stuff about micklethwait. When I went their brisket was spectacular. Sausage was incredible too. Sounds like thei consistency is lacking.
We agreed that Micklethwait was a bit overrated. The brisket was very good, but the ribs were not. Barbacoa was ok.
Didn't care much for Terry Blacks... not sure how that made the list.
Freedman's was great though. Our favorite of the day, but LA should be good today.

Update: La BBQ was incredible. Beef ribs and brisket were amazing. Sausage was different but very good as well
Third time at franklin's was a success, and just as awesome as ever. Branched out this time and tried the pulled pork and while it was good, I'll probably just stick to brisket, ribs, and turkey from now on. Best surprise of the trip was at the line wasn't too long even for a weekday, probably due to the holidays.
Terry Blacks is like a better version of Rudy's IMO. It does very well, but not Top 50 for me.
My Franklin's haul. Like Agfan said, I drove up at 7am this morning expecting a line and there was nothing there. I was a little worried they were closed for some reason because I've never seen it without someone in line. Ended up being the second group in line. Someone else pulled up while I was googling trying to find out if they were closed.

God sometimes I forget just how amazing his brisket is. Pure BBQ porn.
So I had my first experience with a Franklin preorder today. Went flawlessly rolled up at about 11:15 and was driving off with the BBQ by 11:30. Even got a little tour of the pits while we were waiting for everything to be sliced up. Forgive the ****ty picture but by the time we got back I was more interested in tearing into the meat than I was with pictures. 3lbs brisket & 2 each of ribs and Sausage. Brisket was phenomenal as always and was super impressed with the ribs. I typically don't do pork ribs but these were honestly probably the best I've ever had. Sausage was ok, a bit greasy for me personally.
Awesome. That was my biggest surprise...how good the ribs were. Aaron Franklin is synonymous with excellent brisket but the ribs were amazing which surprised me.
Excited to mark another Top 50 spot off this weekend. We are going to Aggie hoops vs LSU on Saturday and doing Blue Moon in Hearne beforehand.
Any particular advice on what to get or avoid? I see on the menu they have a saturday special of a stuffed, smoked, bacon wrapped jalapeno with chopped beef and cheese. I'll be trying one of those. Also looks like they have pork loin which is a little different.

I did the preorder today. Stayed very warm in my RTIC cooler after about 25 minutes traveling back home. FYI There are about 4 tables outside of the pick up trailer that is seperate from the main restaurant. I assume you can order online and eat there if you want to skip the "experience".
Brisket is good and last time I went was their prime rib day which was really good too, not sure which day that is though. Also, get the cowboy cornbread, it's an awesome side. They're really friendly people.
