If they decide on Ausmus or Ensberg, they'll announce it at 11:55 p.m. on November 12th when Yordan wins MVP

Yeah that guy always sounded too good to be true.

Is a sample size of 22 in a different league. It's meaningless.

Not meaningless. This was his chance to prove last season wasn't a fluke. If he stacks a strong LIDOM with a strong spring, he very well could have made the big league roster or at worst be an early call-up.

Yep, 0/17 with two walks. Proceeded to be 1/32 and 2/38 before his breakout game against the Rangers where he started to go on a tearagproducer said:Mathguy64 said:Farmer1906 said:Mathguy64 said:txags92 said:

Wasn't Breggy 0 for 17 to start his MLB career? 22 can show a trend -- but it isn't end all be all.

My rule of thumb is going into a new league (moving up) you should not make any rash judgements until you see a sample size of 100.

The Marlins have a wide array of potential targets as the offseason gets underway. Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald reports that the Fish are seeking at least one external addition to both the rotation and the bullpen. According to Jackson, they're also open to bringing in an everyday position player at either a corner infield or outfield spot.
Quote:
Miami probably isn't going to play at the top of the first base market to sign Jake Bauers, who received a qualifying offer from the Brewers. They could make a run at Ty France with the hope of pushing Stowers back to left field and cutting back on Hernndez's playing time. Alec Bohm could also fit on a one-year deal with the ability to play either corner infield spot. Taylor Ward, Trent Grisham or Michael Conforto could work as outfield targets.
The trade market could see the likes of Royce Lewis, Spencer Torkelson or Andrew Vaughn come available at first base. Vaughn would be a near lock to move if Bauers accepts the QO and returns to Milwaukee. The Astros could make Isaac Paredes available as a third base possibility. Brandon Marsh or Jarren Duran are change of scenery candidates in the outfield.

While I am not anti-Ensberg here, I just thought of a concern with his candidacy.
As a guy who was a rookie/young player under Bagwell's clubhouse leadership, would Ensberg more easily fall under the Bagwell spell like Crane? The last thing we need is to amplify his voice.

That reputation thing is part of the reason I am interested in Pujols. He has enough of a baseball rep for Crane to listen to him if he opposes what Bagwell is saying. If Bagwell and Ensberg disagree, Bagwell can just bend Crane's ear by showing him their Astros baseball cards from the years they played together. Then again, there was that game where Bagwell was out for surgery and Ensberg had a 3 homer game while playing 1B.

It is extremely concerning how much they are talking up Ausmus. It will be a complete disaster if he's hired, worse than Joe
