This is a pretty good article IMO, and it illustrates the danger of putting too much belief in a player having one good season, or even two.

The Rangers have had their share of them. Dave Hostetler, George Wright, Jim Bibby, Matt Harrison, Jim Kern...there's a lot more.
Chris Young wanted him. What the Rangers did in the decades before him doesn't matter.
No offense at all, but I won't overthink this one. Like at all. If he doesn't work out he falls off after this season. Him and Gray both. We need Mahle to be a serviceable starting rotation member and if he's healthy, he will be exactly that.
