Maybe he was a little over hyped, but he's a career good 4/5 in the rotation. He was having a really nice start to the season when he got hurt in 2023.
Joey Gallo had a really good season going in '19. Putting up a half or 2/3rds of a really good season, and doing it one time, is not something I'm going to buy into. Maybe he'll be solid, maybe he won't. But I think the jury is very much out on him, and saying he's a "career good 4/5 in the rotation" isn't really accurate. He's had two decent years in 8 MLB seasons - 2. If his velocity doesn't come back, it's pretty concerning.

This is a pretty good article IMO, and it illustrates the danger of putting too much belief in a player having one good season, or even two.

MLB One Year Wonders

The Rangers have had their share of them. Dave Hostetler, George Wright, Jim Bibby, Matt Harrison, Jim Kern...there's a lot more.

Chris Young wanted him. What the Rangers did in the decades before him doesn't matter.

No offense at all, but I won't overthink this one. Like at all. If he doesn't work out he falls off after this season. Him and Gray both. We need Mahle to be a serviceable starting rotation member and if he's healthy, he will be exactly that.

He has a career 4.32 ERA and he hasn't had a bad year since 2019. He was really good in 20 and 21 and more than solid in 22. He was off to a great start in 23 before being injured.

Nothing wrong with that for a 4/5. I think the organization may have oversold him a little and I think you are underselling him a little.

Google "Texas Rangers tv market map". Pretty sure it covers like 80% of the state, including the Austin area. I know I'm good and I live in College Station. I looked into it before I signed up for Victory.

I take this to mean anybody in Texas will be able to watch the Rangers via Victoy+

Insurance policy if Carter and Leody can't get right against lefties. Pillar hit .310 with an .852 OPS against them last season. This years Robbie Grossman.

Makes sense. I'm guessing the same applies to Sam Haggerty.

Rosario out for the year with elbow surgery. Not sure if TJS yet but bummer. I knew he got shutdown in September with "fatigue" but hadn't heard anything since then so assumed he was healthy. Sucks

I wonder if he'll have PTSD flashbacks to getting popped square in the face from Rougie when he pulls in across from GLP

"It's likely UCL," Young said, as relayed by Landry. "I don't want to officially say, but yeah, it's elbow and will probably require Tommy John."

Regarding Rosario.

Watching the game today. Bradford pitching and he's pumping strikes. 3 up, 3 down, 9 pitches

He was shut down due to shoulder fatigue. CY says the elbow problem basically came out of nowhere recently

This stinks.... He had (and still does) a real shot to be a dude.

Man I'm getting to where I want to see all pitchers coming out of college getting preemptive TJ surgery and get it done with. Almost inevitable these days.

I'm convinced it is all because of the focus on spin rate.

The league is sleeping on Bradford. That dude just fills the strike zone and gets outs. Really think he has a legit chance to be an elite MORP this season.
