They've gone from Claw and Antlers to "European Grip and Cup the marbles"

Redneck crushing Rangers hopes and dreams.
Pence is really looking good, though. And I dont think he's in the nut grabbing circle, so ya'll have one player that doesn't suck in one way or another. Grats Arlington!

Actually, St. Louis contended for quite a while and is already back in the mix again. Too bad Arlington couldn't throw one more strike (or catch a fly ball) when it mattered the most against the red fowl, but great hitters like Berkman can be a tough out.Dallasag02 said:aTm2004 said:Holy crap! Honest question...if you could choose to throw up the white flag for a few seasons to go to the ALDS 2 years later and win a WS 4 years later while continuing to be a WS favorite for the foreseeable future vs. being average for 10 and maybe having a chance in 15, which would you choose?
I'd rather do it the way we actually did it during Astros' fans baseball dark period. Went to the series two straight years, missed the title by one strike, (twice) and a solid 6 year run of playoff contention while not having to completely forfeit at least 3 seasons. We were one good manager decision away from a title in 2 WS appearances without surrendering the franchise. Hurts not to have won, but we were there two years in a row while Houston was struggling to win 50+ in a season.
I'm happy with what we just did, and will be happy when we're back on top in 3-4 years while the Astros sink back to the bottom. That's how this goes, the only difference is I know my team didn't completely tank on purpose to get there.
On the flip, there's an organization with new ownership who looked at the franchise as a whole, said "it sucks" and rebuilt from the ground up rather than throwing tons of money at temporary fixes, went out and won a World Series and is primed to be a contender for the next 7 or so years while Arlington is in denial.
Our new ownership group went to the world series in years one and two. Yours intentionally lost. I'll take ours.
It's cute that you think you're going to contend for the next 7 years though. Nobody outside of New York or Boston keeps a window open for a decade, but I'm sure your guys have figured it out.

Haven't you heard? The newest sabermetric tool is GPB24 (Games Played Before age 24) and his GPB24+ is a historical best of 749.
Quite possibly in the 2019 Rangers Organization, maybe even top 5Ag_07 said:mathguy86 said:

How the 4th mediocre season in a row going? Fairly average and boring?

But they also have the "did it the right way" trophy, and you just can't take that one away from them.MosesHallRAB04 said:

It all kind of runs together. Congrats on getting swept by Toronto that year.

Um no, they've won the same number of games as the 'Stros but also have one more loss.titanmaster_race said:
I mean, the rangers organization has won more world series games than the Astros. Clearly Arlington is the better franchise.

Rougie's series-ending walk-off error rate is way higher than Altuve's. Yet one more accomplishment he has at an even younger age. He could make tons more on his way to Cooperstown.

I just want to congratulate the Arlingtonians. You have literally the dumbest team on the planet. Down 5 and you get caught stealing a base. Bravo boys. Bravo.
