People in general, not just us, need to remember that the Mavs are not a FA destination (yet) right now, are building around Flagg (a 19 year old), and seem to have some assets that are not that valuable. We are also trying to dig ourselves out of the travesty that Nico put us in. So it won't be and is not perfect.

Example A being that I don't think we're getting off of Gafford like we thought. Who he is and his contract are not attractive right now. However, as Lively seems like a Hail Mary to be ready for the season, it might just be a good idea to hold onto Gafford and have him in a team that fits him better. Maybe someone will want him more at the deadline after having played in a team that suits him better.

46/43/91 over the past 3 Euroleague seasons, which is more difficult competition than the Turkish League.

Guy can shoot the lights out. As long as he isn't an absolute cone on defense, should be a nice piece on a relatively cheap contract.

It's been a weird off-season overall.

After we couldn't unload Gafford for a pick late in the 1st round, seemed like his value was at it's lowest it has been. Maybe he and Klay are worth 3-4 second round picks, combined. Normally I wouldn't care too much about that, but teams are treating 2nd round picks like actual currency, so why not pick up some?

There have to be some moves coming, especially if Biberovic is actually coming. Klay, PJ, and Gaff need to make way for younger players so we can see who needs to be here for the long haul.

The $14 million for Landale is just trade fodder, IMO. It's a big expiring deal, it isn't Jock Landale's basketball market worth.

Just seems that teams really don't want to trade for longer contracts unless they're getting a high-level starter.

I didn't expect us to be a destination like Miami or LA, but I didn't think we would be a dead zone either. We should probably be able to bring in 2nd or 3rd tier players. Guys who aren't stars, but are good players.

Biberovic was 2nd on the team in PPG trailing Talen Horton Tucker. The other 5 of the top 7 scorers also had NBA experience, all 5 played at one time for various teams in the Southwest division or OKC. See if you can get the 2 guys below that played for the Mavs in the past.

Also, the league is so ****ing inept for letting it drag on this long. We have sworn witness statements under the penalty of perjury years before Pablo was ever involved that this Aspirations deal was done explicitly to circumvent the cap.

All this should have been handled by the Finals so teams could make their draft plans with this in place.

I want to know what they mean by penalties. Penalties like Kawhi would be subject to suspension or penalties like fines and loss of draft picks? Surely not the latter.

Possible Penalties for Kawhi:

* Voided contract
* Loss of Bird Rights
* Forced to pay back everything received from Aspirations and any other deal
* 350k fine

Cannot be suspended under this rule. Joe Smith had his contract voided and was not suspended.

Possible penalties for the Clippers:

* 1y suspension for everyone who knew
* 7M fine
* Loss of draft picks (unspecified number)

The risk to Toronto is they trade for Kawhi and he's no longer able to play for them, which isn't some kind of new revelation of a post trade potential. They knew he had this pending and the potential penalties to Kawhi and how that would impact their team when they traded for him.

No, the risk is that they trade Ingram and two firsts and getting Kawhi, but his contract is voided, so they lost all those assets for nothing

I am sure they are just tying up loose ends to present a case that they indeed could not substantiate the claim. Lots of emails to delete and documents to shred.
