The video of Curtis and Szobo arguing on the pitch about the armband the other night feels so ominous. I know quite a few guys were not there, but I can't believe that went on for as long as it did without someone putting a stop to it.

Maybe Curtis is just a malcontent and needs to move on. I'm also not sold on Szobo as the future captain.

Seems like Jones was mad that the armband was given to Tsimikas. There was video of Tsimikas taking the armband off and tossing it on the ground in front of Jones.

Rather silly thing to fight over considering it was a damn pre-season game in the US. Effing kids.

I thought it was a really bad look for all parties, but particularly Curtis. I am sure the armband was a part of it, but I also think Curtis is just kinda fed-up now and wants to move on. He definitely feels like a malcontent, and I'd be looking to move him pretty rapidly. I know we need bodies, don't get me wrong, but having someone who seems toxic is probably worse than having the body. And if he and Szbo don't get along, I am choosing Szbo every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

On top of that if we had to choose an area of the pitch to lose a guy, I'd choose midfield. I think we are deepest there because of the youngsters we have. I think Nyoni, Morrison, and McConnell, particularly Nyoni, can do a job in midfield if needed. I do not think that about defense or attack.

Curtis Jones needs to be shown the door, and I think after that trip to the States it's increasingly likely. Give his spot to Nyoni, genuinely. Nyoni has a higher ceiling and he plays a more traditional No. 6.

I am not panicking on this team. Not after what we saw last season. But they need this week to be the Barcola over the line week, and get damn serious about CB and RB. Again, I have no issues if you want Jacquet to be the No. 1 RCB. You spent 60M+ on the guy, so fine by me. But they need minimum another senior level CB and RB.

I'm starting to wonder if the rumored Jarrell Quansah buyback clause will be exercised.

I personally think getting Quansah back would be a fine option.

Okay so it's looking like Liverpool will have a buy-out clause for 55M if they want. Not that bad imo.

Araujo has fallen on hard times, some of which is definitely his own doing being a dumbass, and he can be injured. But he was on a trajectory to be one of the five best CBs in the world and is still incredibly athletic and strong. He's also got A TON of big time experience.

So not completely safe, no hiding that, but a good pickup for the position that we are in. I also still fully expect Jacquet to start so long as he's healthy.

Well said. We absolutely had to get a CB/RB and he can play both. Obviously we could really use a real or at least another option at RB and really another CB option, but guessing at best we may only get an additional warm body type at this point. And that would be fine as long as we solve RB by start of next year as we simply aren't going to fix/rebuild this back 4 (and upfront) mess in one year. All I hope is they have a master plan and are effectively/smartly and aggressively doing that.

Love the Leoni and Jacquet potential future, think it is possible to be elite with their youth, talent and size. Throw in Ndukwe and other U21 prospects, you can see the vision and future here for that position...but it's still such an unknown with all of those.

Now that Araujo is in the fold at least for this season, I quite like the look of the group. Two older, experienced CBs; two young, high upside CBs, and one older CB who you can just try to keep healthy along the way. Two of those can also play RB as a substitute as well.

With that being said, I wish they would go out and do something similar at RB. Frimpong doesn't fit and Bradley is fragile (albeit the ACL injury was not his fault and fluky).

Glad that defense and midfield are more or less sorted for now. Now to get that attack worked out. Mbaye and Barcola would be a dream finish, but PSG are not going to make it easy.

Attack looking very good so far versus AS Monaco.

It seems pretty apparent that Iraola is going to have Isak and Wirtz in the middle and the goal is going to be to win the ball back and get them the ball pretty much at all times. Those are the goal threats.

Really liking Gakpo at the back post this game.

I get that it's AC Monaco, but love the style of play and attack. Unlocking Wirtz by having him direct the attack up the middle along with the high press is huge. Such a difference from Slot ball. I mean everyone looks more comfortable
