Atletico complained and wanted a redraw. RM wants their draw to stay saying the screwup was after theirs

"Dude. All the balls are hot. What am I supposed to do?"

Odds this ends up being redone a third time? 3-1

Odds someone who had an easy draw gets the exact opposite and is pissed? 1-10000000

Odds someone openly proclaims UEFA hacks and cheats? Fair

Best part? UEFA blaming a third party software vendor.

Atletico.

Can we do it again?

We ended up getting Atletico Madrid...hilarious.

Real got PSG. They are going to be pissed as the goof happened after their original draw. I bet this gets very ugly.

As predicted Florentino Perez went bonkers. He claims UEFA is lying about the reason for the screwup (ok they are. It wasn't a computer they just messed up the balls) and he's hacked they redid the whole draw. He wanted the RM v Benfica draw to stay since the screwup happened after that.

"Maybe UEFA have to be reminded who Real Madrid are." Nice.

What a mess

So there is a COVId outbreak and carrington is shutdown. The team has not ye my travelled to London for the brentford match. But the league has still not issued a statement that the match is cancelled. Idiots.

We are now under 24 hours before the match is scheduled to start and no word from the league. Utter incompetence at the highest level.

Brentford v United postponed. Announcement was made just before midnight local time. Just incredible incompetence from the league.

When United said that they hadn't traveled to London today as they were waiting for clarification from the EPL, you knew it was going to be canceled. Completely ridiculous that it took so look to make/announce a decision.

Does not include United, but it is related to what just happened to us. But the league continues to embarrass themselves.

They made Arsenal play while missing a bunch of players with Covid to start the year. All these other teams getting to postpone games is bs.

My deal is that it's not necessarily them canceling or not cancelling games. It's the indecision and lack of plan. They waited almost midnight before the match with Brentford to cancel. League could have said the match is happening or not in the morning.

Wonder how long this policy can go on (i guess forever)....they are damaging the sport with the constant testing based on frequency and not symptoms....how many of these players are actually sick?

I love how spurs say they aren't fit to play a PL match and want to postpone it while simultaneously saying they could use that time to play their make up against Rennes. And by play I mean throw out 11 random nobodies to lose a match on purpose.

That's the biggest thing for me. There's no enforcement for reporting accuracy. Some are out due to COVID, others "illness," still others "fitness issues." If you don't want to play a game, just say you don't have enough fit players and hide behind vague descriptions. What's the league going to do?

To be fair, the 2 extra subs for UEFA competitions make it easier to manage fitness. So I actually can see a legitimate difference between the two. If you've got 8 guys fully fit and 8 guys marginally fit, it'll be easier to manage preplanned subs for 3 spots in the UEFA and still have 2 subs in the hole for in-game needs. It would be suicide to preplan for 3 subs in EPL.

It's still baffling to me that the English leagues refuse to budge on amount of substitutions but then are stuck managing this ****show of seemingly arbitrary postponements or lack thereof.

Spurs basically tried to forfeit their way out of this match and the kiddie tourney once. They dont want to play it or in it. When UEFA wouldnt let them and told them they had to play they got stuck. Its a sham.

Burnley - Watford is postponed. No reason give why that request was granted and Spurs - Lester was not.

And now Spurs-Lester is delayed too.

Saturday vs BHA is now off. The EPL just needs to shut it down for 2 weeks. Otherwise the make up fixtures will be a scheduling disaster at the end.

What is this summer supposed to look like (and next year's season schedule?) with the WC BEing IN nov/Dec?
Dre_00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, the integrity of the league is going to be compromised if there's a massive difference in games played for other than sporting reasons. I mean, what is this...2005 MLS?
ChipFTAC01
How long do you want to ignore this user?
What happened in 2005 MLS?
Dre_00
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Nothing specifc...just a random year I pulled.

But in that era of MLS, it was very common for teams to play games at drastically different paces. Rather than everyone playing every Saturday, some teams would play 2 or 3 times before other teams played even 1.

The result was league tables with significant variation in games played (i.e. a number of teams would have 3, 4 or more games in hand). It really wasn't fair for a number of reasons. It was mostly done so that MLS could take advantage of the 1st generation soccer specific stadiums that were popping up at that time where possible (and working around NFL schedules for the teams still not in their own stadium).

Kieran McKenna left to manage Ipswich Town. Pretty happy to see most of the coaching staff move on

While the separation to Arsenal in 4th is all from the ganes in hand, it's imperative to win tomorrow. That gap cannot widen.
