I'd rather get no PT in my home country than be away from my family/move them and get no PT in a different country.
Glad DvB got a loan move. Everton apparently wanted an option to buy but United refused. Not because I think they'll actually play him if he returns after a successful stint but rather because I imagine that will go into their super duper transfer algorithm which will place an 80 million GBP price tag on him that no one will pay so he can rot on the bench again.

Rangnick has once again given Lingard his blessing to leave but I highly doubt the board will allow him to go to West Ham and they probably don't want to help Newcastle stay up.
I get west ham from a competitive top 4/top 6 but why Newcastle? Just to try and hamper them before try go all petri dollar everywhere?

Newcastle will, eventually, be yet another team that United has to fight to get top 4. If Newcastle gets relegated, it will delay when that happens by at least a year. Also, I think there's an element of United doing to others what everyone has always done to them "Oh you want one of my players? Then allow me to add a lot of zeros behind my asking price. I know you can afford it."
There is a lot of that going around. It seems half the players out there have release clauses of $75mm or higher and teams just say "pay and he's yours". The release clause and the players ability have no correlation.

United is supposedly demanding a survival clause in Lingard's loan contract to Newcastle. If Newcastle stay up, they owe United 12 million GBP...regardless of how Lingard performs. I've not heard of a clause like that before but I think it's hilarious and absolutely love it.
Sounds like J-Lingz ain't going anywhere. Sucks for him. But probably the right move for United.

At this point we kinda need him with Martial, Amad, Pellistri all loaned out and Greenwood looking at legal issues. Cavani, Rashford and Sancho have all had injury issues and Jesse can cover a number of positions in the attack
Yeah I thought it was a little strange that Rangnick gave him his blessing. Not counting Lingard there are...3 recognized wide forwards/wingers? (Rashford, Sancho, Elanga) I don't think Lingard's best position is out wide but I think he can play there. And I'd rather see him there than 37 year old Ronaldo.

So the only thing I can figure with United on the valuation front is that they are a corporation and corporations are loath to take actual losses and write downs. So instead they'd rather just let a contract run out. A regular person says this is an unneeded part. If i can cover some of what I've spent, that's better than nothing. Companies don't necessarily operate on that mindset.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're correct. Bringing elements of typical business management isn't necessarily a bad thing but doing so exclusively with a roster of players is just not smart.
I mean, United have pretty much said that they primarily bought VdB because he represented "good value". That's all well and good if you're buying an asset or a stock but a pretty horrible way of building a team.

Things are now worse for Greenwood. The police have been granted extra time to hold him for the investigation and he's now arrested for assault and a threat to kill.

I forgot Pogba was on the team.
This is why you don't overplay players. Unbelievable. He is so talented but just cannot keep his head in it. But given the summer market and a WC this next fall I am sure it is time for a 12 month window of Pogba giving a damn. Maybe we benefit from that for the next 3-4 months.
Fun fact: Mino Raiola went to high school about 1/4 mile from where I live. I didn't even know the guy was Dutch let alone that he grew up where I moved to.

It is indeed a strong lineup. Rashford starts on the left. Henderson in at goal. Other than that, it's pretty much first choice.
