So apparently Phil and Mo have minor knocks and Mane and Mo are being allowed to go to Africa this week for the award presentation. No idea when we might see VVD in action yet.

Sounds like Everton got some karmic justice with the PK call in the first half. I think the overreactions to bad calls by soccer pundits is one of the most entertaining aspects of the game.

Finally saw a Mirror story saying that this morning. Hopefully we can sell him effective the end of the season. Sure makes him sound anxious to go sooner which is odd considering he won't be able to play any CL the rest of the year.
Agreed. I don't get him being so adamant about going now and it just doesn't make sense to agree to leave now on LFCs part with CL and Top 4 push. It sounds like he's pushing hard to go now and LFC are pushing hard to agree a fee now and let him go in the summer. I'd understand a lot more if he wasn't cup tied.
Biggest issue for me is how impossible it'll be for us to find even a passable replacement at this point.

I understand it from Coutinho's side, he has a history of being injured and wants to push the move through. I also understand it from Barca's side, Phil has been at the top of his game and his fee is only going to rise if he keeps it up, plus the market has gone crazy and who's to know whether a player of Coutinho's quality isn't going to be worth 200m this summer. That being said, I will consider it good business if Liverpool manage to agree to a sign and loan for the rest of this season. Barca don't need the player this season and Liverpool can't afford to lose him, but this ridiculousness needs to stop, it isn't good for either team.

Need to immediately money-whip a young attacking player just to TRY to fill the void. Not sure how successful we can be doing that at this point but we have to try. Can't turn this season into a missed opportunity.
I'm nervous about our chances of staying in the top 4. We definitely have plenty of attacking options but none the class of Coutinho.
I am excited about what Liverpool will do in the summer window if they stay in the top 4. They're gonna have money to spend. New goalie and maybe Lemar? I'm down with that. This Coutinho sale could end up being what makes Liverpool into a real contender.

I was thinking we need to try for Alexis Sanchez but dang I really like Mahrez. Great addition if it works out.

Man, it's really gonna suck when Africa Cup of Nations starts!!!
AFCON voted in July to move the Cup of Nations to the summer to be in line with the other federations. Their players believed their transfer fees and wages were being reduced too much do to the schedule of the tournament, as teams used the winter tourney schedule as a bargaining chip to drive prices down when signing African players.

Nice return for Coutinho. I doubt they will sign an appropriate replacement this january though. I haven't really been impressed with the way they go about getting players these days. They don't seem to have the ability to immediately sign a player when the whole world knows they want that player. It often takes an extra transfer period to get it done. My assumption is that they will chase a few top notch players, land none of them in January, and possible secure a deal for a good player to come over in the summer.
Mahrez would be my preferred replacement for Coutinho. Very similar skill set and EPL tested/proven.
