Because that midfield would get destroyed. Afro alone isn't enough to break up attacks, especially when he's being pushed far forward to win headers. That means that if he lost a header, Chelsea would virtually bypass the midfield and be on the defenders in a flash. This isn't FUT.

There is no good formation considering the injuries. We will soon see who LvG values more out of Falcao and Di Maria because it seems like at least one of them has to start. I don't like the idea of Rooney partnering with Herrera but I think that's what we'll see with Falcao coming in as a starter. That formation keeps the most players in the same position that they've played so well in.

Only other option that might work would be to keep Rooney up top, move Fellaini to d-mid and start Di Maria in the middle (perhaps letting he and Mata switch places off an on during the game). I don't think LvG wants to mess with Fellaini's position though and he trusts Rooney more to perform out of position.

Glenn Davis tweeted that the rumor is Chelsea will play the Dynamo in the annual charity cup match. They'd play in UH's new football stadium.

He has come in as a sub in defensive midfield a few times as a late sub. I believe he played there in the League Cup final against Tottenham. Mourinho being Mourinho trying to groom him for the future I believe.
