I'm a NUFC fan but I'm in the minority.
I think Sissoko is ****e. He has no real skill. Big, strong, pace but no touch or passing ability. He's good for a 10-15 yd run (unchallenged) but put a defender in front of him and he's a turnover machine (just like Tiote).
The difference today was Cabella. He's got skill, but he's young and has had little in the way of development. He dribbles too much. Most days he turns it over when he goes on one of his little shows, but today he seemed to find space. He's one to watch. With proper coaching and talent around him, he could be special. Also needs to gain about 20 lbs.
What doomed NUFC today was finishing. We simply aren't good at putting the ball in the net. We should have had the lead at halftime, which would have set up a second half like the last game (very defensive). But we didn't. We blew our chances and then Mourinho let Costa start running at the CBs after long balls. That was the end. Williamson is ****e. Colo can't cover both, so MFs have to stay out of the attack, and it all falls apart.
The first 20 mins were the best NUFC have had in 2 years. It was Chelsea like. Not just getting chances but controlling the game. Choosing opportunities. Beautiful.
I think Chelsea and Mourinho in particular get so little credit for the way they play. They could easily hammer several EPL teams by 4-1 or even 5-2. But they don't. He preaches patience and control and it's like a formula. 1 goal in the first half. Make a change in tactics and get another early second. Kill off the game. 2-0.
If the EPL had playoffs, I think Chelsea would win the league most of the time. Mourinho is miles ahead of Pelligrini in tactics and coaching. That's now starting to show as the old cuuuunt has had to deal with injury and some aging players.
Good luck the rest of the way.
