I'm going to sleep; maybe all these issues will have solved themselves by the time I wake up tomorrow.

What was vandalized? Also was the statement made toward the athletes in the since viral video not a racist statement? That's apart of the problem they have been PEACEFULLY protesting, yet they are painted as "the bad guys" for using freedom of speech. How ironic

Big government lovers love racism.

Because government can fix it, just give it more power.

That's the "big switch" lie. The Democrat party has always loved and will always love racism because it helps fuel big government.

The Democrat party has zero desire to get rid of racism. Zero.

I vote Libertarian, so I really don't care abut your "Republican vs Democrat" pissing match.

I just don't want my sports littered with politics. They're free to do whatever they want, but I'm also free to not fund it.

Besides, everyone spending a ton of time raising hell about it is just what they want. Guarantee you if everyone just ignored all the kneeling, etc, etc and didn't give it attention and air time, etc, it would largely stop because it wouldn't be getting a reaction. The "reaction" is what they want. And you're giving it to them.

But there's a lot of us who will silently just stop giving money. And that's what the athletic department is worried about.

I wonder if that includes supporting the NRA or any 2nd amendment justice issues?
What happens when the first "Come and Take It" patch appears?

A&M participates in this and I am 100% done..... for good.
I look forward to seeing all of those patches of SJW jocks on their Nike, Adidas, etc clothing condemning Chinese slaves who are making those uniforms and patches.

You guys need to read the proposition, instead of relying on some click bait, shock value tweet.

For the patch, the SEC or team has to approve it and there will only be one patch per team.

http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/news/prop-expands-opportunities-social-justice-statements-uniforms

The patch on the front, which most sports already allowed, as authorized by the school or conference, may be a commemorative/memorial patch (names, mascots, nicknames, logos and marks) intended to celebrate or memorialize people, events or other causes.

The patch must not exceed 2 square inches and must be placed on the front or sleeve of the uniform. While not all team members are required to wear the patch, they must be identical for those who choose to wear them.

Thanks for clarifying this. I don't click on the bait very often but the reaction on this thread definitely had me a little ruffled as it did others.

The appropriate response to "offensive" speech is always more speech not censorship. Also true for political speech.

Just wait for this to the SEC. Yeah, y'all keep pouring your hard earned $$$ at this. I'll pass.

Apparently you still haven't figured out what the term "cancel culture" means. And if you haven't learned by now, you're probably hopeless.

Irony on top of the irony. Here, I'll try to help you out, and if you still don't see that this is playing out right here on this thread......well....

"WHAT DOES CANCEL CULTURE MEAN?

Cancel culture refers to the popular practice of withdrawing support for (canceling) public figures and companies after they have done or said something considered objectionable or offensive. Cancel culture is generally discussed as being performed on social media in the form of group shaming."

When a donor decides not to support a sport, then so be it. Our Administrators ought to understand this, and the athletes themselves, to understand the economics. Donors get a significant vote. Sadly, I for one, am getting pretty used to doing without sports. The economic models are shifting.

My apologies if this has been mentioned but t.u.'s prez is smarter than ours. All he did was throw a few bones to the BLM, and even the football jocks gave into keeping their old school song.
need to add the words "for now" on your post.

we know how this works. In 6 to 12 months...the athletes will be back asking for more demands/changes.

the t.u. president gave an inch...and the demand for a mile is coming next

Wasnt the face on the statue of Sullivan spray painted orange and the base had "BLM" spray painted in black? That's what i recall seeing in the news papers and other pictures i viewed of the incident. If that is not vandilzism, then I'm not sure what is.

Brown taking off his shirt and threatening to "Whip your butt" to an old ag doesn't seem peaceful. Mond liking and retweeting the Tribes of Israel, who is know for their anti-Semitic rhetoric (among other hate speech) and who the Southern Law Center has classified as a hate group, seems to be in very bad taste, if not racist.

Athletes certainly have the right to protest, but i would hope they would thoroughly research the events they are protesting beforehand and get all the facts correct (Mond has stated several inaccurate statements regarding LSR). They should also be open to dialect from the other side, instead of labeling everyone who doesn't share their views as racist.

uneedastraw
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Ok. They can peacefully protest while still calling the other side racist. Heck, they can be like the pac-12 players and threaten to sit out for all I care. If it's that bad, then Sit out.

The "racist" other side can call them the bad guys peacefully and withhold their support that is significantly assisting in the benefits that the "bad guys" receive.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. We will see who holds out longer. So what's the problem?

Why do they want support from RACIST fans? No mas! No mas! Defund Football! Cancel 2020 season. Quit running a training camp for SJW NFL.

Start 2021 with Aggies that support team unity. If no such thing, then implode Kyle Field.

Letters have been sent to the BOR, Sharp, Young, Bjork, Fisher, etc. I no longer trust any of them. They lost it when they were too weak to lead and take a stand. Elections have consequences and I view all these positions as elections, (selection) made by a board or some executive. I have never seen such a group of gutless cowards who think they are doing the right thing. No, it is not and it is fear and all of these people are cowering in the corners of their house hoping they will not be next. Rewarding or appeasing bad behavior only leads to more bad behavior.
The same goes for the academic side who for years have been sucking up to the liberal professors who could not compete in industry. They have awarded academic scholarships to many foreign students who are questionable with their allegiance and will never contribute back to TAMU.

we've seen the "differences" defiinition regarding boycotts and cancel culture posted on this board. but at the end of the day its semantics twisted to meet one sides purpose.

many of you say your goal is something about the university and its values (give me liberty or... something), but at the same time the stated plan by MANY here is to withhold until "certain someone(s) have been benched, disciplined, and/or graduated". that's pretty "permanent canceling of an individual because of statements or behaviors" as i supposedly the main difference between boycotting and cancel culture.

again - do what you want with your money... but lets not pretend.
Player To Be Named Later
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There are many of us who won't "withhold money" just to make some point or get them to enact change. For a lot of this, this is just the last straw. The last few months have made a lot of people re-evaluate priorities and sports had begun falling down that list to begin with. Add all of this nonsense politics and drama added to our sports entertainment and it's just not something we care to spend money on.

For me personally, it has zero to do with "sticking it to these athletes" and everything to do with it just not being something I care to spend my money on when there are far better things I could be spending it on. And honestly, it's people like us that A&M should worry about. The guys who are just out to make a point will be back..... people who are looking at it like I am may not be back with our money for a long time, if ever.

I watch college sports as a respite for the crap of everyday life. That is it's value to me. If you are going to let the crap of everyday life inject itself into college sports, it no longer has value to me, so why should I pay for it with my time, energy, and money?

And this applies to all of my sports fandom which is why the NFL and NBA died to me a long time ago. This is just the next step.
