Plenty have. That's why some have their suspicions about this letter being a fake. (Not saying I do specifically)

The only appropriate response to this is to say the letter is unacceptable and whoever wrote it needs to crawl back into whatever swamp they came out of. Nobody ever deserves to have their life threatened or their family belittled with racial slurs. To see a letter like this sent over something so small as losing a football game is pathetic. Whoever wrote this anonymous letter is a shameful coward.

Nobody knows who wrote it yet, so speculating that it couldn't have been an aggie or who else might have written it just makes us look ignorant and shameful.

Because it contains a threat, police will likely investigate. Hopefully the identity of the author is found and then that person can be judged accordingly. Until then, the only appropriate response is to say such a letter is unacceptable.

We might not like Sumlin's recent performance as a head coach. We might want to fire him and hire a new coach. But that's a separate issue. This letter is shameful, whoever wrote it is scum, and Sumlin and his family don't deserve to be treated this way. Nobody should ever be treated this way.

Agree with what's not in bold. Disagree with what's in bold. Since we have no clue if it's real, fake, or who wrote it, IMO it's appropriate to think anything goes speculation- wise. (Non-hateful speculation within reason). If you're going to say it's wrong to speculate, it's wrong for EVERYONE to speculate, NOT just Ags who have suspicions that it's not legit. The people who want to speculate that it IS an Aggie and label everyone associated with TAMU as racists for this without a shred of evidence are just as wrong, if not more so. You need to go ahead and say that too.

I think it's a false flag from either a rival supporter or some A&M SJW type trying to embarrass the school.

1.) An actual racist sent the letter
2.) Sumlin's camp fabricated the letter
3.) A rival fan sent the letter

If it's #1, as a high paid public figure Sumlin should have tossed that in the trash and not thought anything more about it. There are idiots everywhere. Someone in such a visible position like Sumlin should have learned to ignore them by now and not give them a stage.

The BOR wouldn't dare fire him at the end of the year because then he could say we are racists.

Also if he feels that A&M doesn't do enough to "protect him" then there goes another lawsuit and he could ask to leave for "fearing for his safety"

Whoever wrote the letter I hope that person is caught and publicly shamed and condemned. That being said, I have massive red flags that this was actually sent by a current or former student.

IF THAT is the worst letter an A&M coach has ever received then the coaches have been very fortunate.

And how are you going to prevent people from being racist toward you? Or receiving hate mail? Being a racist is deplorable but not against the law.

We cannot control what is sent or who it is sent by. Every town, state, company, school has bad apples. This is sad whether real or not. But it sure seems fishy.

Why did this idiot post it to twitter instead of taking it to the police? There is one clear intent of posting some anonymous letter, and we're seeing that now. Apparently the entire school is now racist.

So does just about every single other school in the country. But, as someone said earlier, how racist can we be institutionally when we're paying the guy $5 million a year to coach a game? Some jobs unfortunately make you targets for the worst of humanity - our president was recently called a "cock holster" on national TV and had his head cut off in effigy in a video seen by his kids. None of this is right - it just shows there are a lot of dumb people out there who can't be policed 24/7. The only thing you can control is how you react and that's what determines how much power you give the ignorant dumbasses. Right now, as a country, we are giving the ignorant dumbasses way too much power.
