I guess Mrs. Sumlin naively thought Aggie fans would take her post at face value. That was her mistake, for sure. I doubt she figured your fanbase had the chutzpah to call her a liar.

And this won't change that trend either.W said:

Please post exactly where she "where she made fun of people who didn't know there was a barcode on the back of the envelope". Maybe you need to brush up on your reading comprehension.
I find it so amazing to see people nitpick Charlene Sumlin about something like this. In the end you have to wonder if people would be so hateful if we had beaten UCLA.

If we had beat UCLA , (or not collapsed after being up 44-10) none of this would have happened.
No, she can defend herself quite well. I was calling you out for being passive/aggressive, while completely wrong.gunan01 said:
She wrote something completely untrue, and she shouldn't be called out on it? Are you her Personal Internet Defender or something? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Guess you consider "conspiracy theorist" a compliment.gunan01 said:

No but patronising them is.gunan01 said:
So calling someone a conspiracy theorist for being wrong is making fun of them? Wow. How could she have said it in a nicer way so you wouldn't get your feelings hurt? Maybe you shouldn't be such a snowflake.

Face value? "SO I decided to post it on Twitter where I knew it would take care of itself." That doesn't sound naive. He said in his presser that they had discussed it before she posted. That's not an emotional response.
Several mentioned on here there should be a barcode on the back and it would complete the picture. They asked at the time why that wasn't included and that gave them pause as to the why. And I don't think them writing it is the issue.
I think it was a combination of circumstances but it wasn't an off the cuff emotional response. Not saying there wasn't emotion in it but it was a measured response.GoodOldAgs said:RGLAG85 said:

If true that they discussed it before she posted it that pretty much confirms this letter was posted with the intent of taking heat off Sumlin.
Do yourself a favor and make it a month.gunan01 said:

Ok I'm done trying to outfox you olds for one night.
Me, a snowflake? I'm the original Cast Iron B****. Takes years of dedication and work.RGLAG85 said:No but patronising them is.gunan01 said:

And if you think I'm a snowflake you must be an avalanche.
So what you're saying is, after all these years you've stayed hot? Gggrrrowlll!aggiehawg said:Me, a snowflake? I'm the original Cast Iron B****. Takes years of dedication and work.RGLAG85 said:No but patronising them is.gunan01 said:

Their lack of acknowledgement in both their responses gave me pause. The fact that it was discussed prior to posting, they had to know the ramifications. Then no mention of the support they've received from the university's leadership, it's help or it's quick condemnation of the act makes me believe it was a very conscious retaliation at best or an intentional smear. Do I think they are tied to the letter, no. But they were provided a loaded gun. As many have said, divorce can be ugly. I truly hope that's not the case.AnalogyAg said:
still not one word from Kevin or Charlene about their thoughts on the Aggie family and how thryve been treated by Ags in their 5+ years here. Just adds to my belief that the reason she posted the letter (w his approval) goes beyond a threat to their family.
if that was the sole reason, i believe they would be careful to try to protect A&M. Theyre smart people and 100% know the implications and ramifications to Texas A&M (what social media would do with this).
no, i think there was a measure of vindictiveness in this fir the wave if criticism from the fan base and buzbee comments.
Charlene- you acknowledged the many personal contacts you have throughout statewide law enforcement agencies- so you and Kevin's best course was to post to social media to get their attention?
REALLY? the whole thing is rotten from all angles.
of which you are apparently not one...Quote:
My thoughts speaking from the perspective of an AA Aggie Alumni.
As far as 3., I think that was an attempt at damage control for having posted the letter to begin with. Took them a little while to come up with proper wording (in their minds) and the length of it pretty much confirms it.AgDotCom said:
I've heard about the letter but this is the first time I've seen both it and the follow up. Three things bug me....
1. The idiot who wrote the message, of course.
2. The number of people jumping to a certain conclusion this was written by an Aggie football fan. Possible...perhaps probable? Yes. Certain? Not by any stretch.
3. The long explanation by Mrs. Sumlin. The message speaks for itself, it doesn't need a couple hundred follow up words to speak for it or in response to what others say. It just seems weird. Or maybe I'm the weird one, I dunno.
