Based on insisting on the "HUGE" name and based on the insistence that Sumlin has to wait for paper-work to clarify (getting out of existing contracts), it is probably one of the following choices:

  • Joe Lombardi (that is the legendary HUGE name): The grandson of Vince Lombardi, Joe spent seven seasons with the New Orleans, including five years as Drew Brees' quarterback coach. This would fix our quarterback issues.
  • Mark Mangino (he is physically HUGE): again just got fired so probably there needs to be time to solve his previous contract issues.
All Rojo has to do is give us a timeline. As others have asked, clarify if this is an end of season change (which everybody expects, no inside information needed for that) or is it an immediate thing?

Wait for it. It's coming. Sumlin is very loyal to his coaches, as we would want him to be. He's not going to throw them under the bus -- but, he is going to have a new OC. Wait for it, there are a couple of complexities to be worked out. When you hear the name -- you will know the reason for the wait.

This attention is very important to you, isn't it?
Sumlin gave the guy every bit of the doubt he could. Now, there is no doubt in Sumlin's mind that there needs to be a change. But, he isn't going to do this publicly.

Yeah what Sumlin is going to do instead of "doing this publicly" is leak through other channels his intentions to fire or demote his close friend so that some clown can post it on TexAgs where it would get back to Spav. Yeah that's what's going on.

So you threw out Chavis name as a wild-ass guess and got lucky and now your trying to parlay your craps roll into some "inside guy" stature. Your rolling the dice again. You don't know anything. And if you did (you don't) you ought to shut up anyway.

"Wait for it" "Wait for it" bla bla bla. Go away, poser.
I threw out Chavis name two days before he was announced because that was the phone call I received telling me the deal was done and the ink was dry.

You threw out a craps roll and got lucky. That is all. You throw out names as "leans" and "private committed" when they were already reported to be heavy leans. Again, that's just rolling the dice and then claiming you knew something.

I have no interest in keeping a dumpster fire going. In fact there isn't a dumpster fire at all. There is just adjustments that need to be made. It's important for you to feel like an "insider" isn't it? For what reason? Why would Sumlin allow his decisions to be leaked and then posted on TexAgs?

So lets see... you claim you "got the call" on Chavis after the ink was signed - two days before. Okay so now you are on here claiming you know who the new OC is going to be. So are you claiming the deal is inked and it's going to be announced in a matter of days? When is it going to be announced? Days? weeks, next year, when?

I can't wait for your excuse on not answering those questions.
I don't claim I received such a call. I received such a call. The facts of the matter is that I posted as much right here on Texags as soon as I got off the phone with the friends in low places. I wouldn't describe it as a "leak". I would describe it as a "peak". My first post has all you need to know. The hiring of the new OC is HUGE! Ah, the devil is in the details...... There are a few complications that are being ironed out. When Sumlin announces is his to do. But, when he announces you will understand why, as of this date, I simply cannot throw the name out there.
Go get today's news paper and write the coaches name across the front page in black marker. Take a photo of it - also time stamped. After the announcement is made, post the picture. If you prove to be right, I doubt you'll ever be questioned again. DO YOU AGREE TO DO THIS?

If I am wrong I will apologize.

I prefer the idea where he writes the name in a word document or a text file, then puts it in a password protected zip file which he links to in this thread. If/when a new OC is announced he posts the password for the zip file and anyone who downloaded it can verify for themselves whether he was right or not.

No that's stupid....

I prefer that he write the coach's name thrice on the east wall of the truck stop bathroom outside Navasota on the eve of the announcement whilst taking a selfie that is then posted to Instagram. It's the only way I'll truly believe.

New Orleans is below sea level
Death Valley is below sea level
Alabama and Mississippi are "poor" states - "low places"
America's Wang, Florida, is really far south, another low place
Baylor - you have to be at a really low point in your life to consider going to Baylor....
Tceh - that is as low as it gets

Since we're guessing....

I'm going to go with Charlie Weis. He is a pretty huge guy nowadays. Plus he was a pretty good OC in his NFL days.

I know he is getting a ton of buyout cash from ND and Kansas. Maybe there are some legal issues associated with him taking an OC job while receiving payout money. Dunno enough about the way those dels were structured nor do I care enough to research it.

Friends in Low Places........A Little Garth, Oklahoma.
BOOK IT! Lincoln Riley OC for OU

"First-year Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley is another one of those young, up-and-coming offensive names that seem bound for a head coaching job sooner rather than later. He's charged with turning around a Sooners offense that lacked identity under co-offensive coordinators Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell.
With a background in the Air Raid under Mike Leach and Ruffin McNeill, Riley led East Carolina to top-25 scoring offenses in three of his five years with the Pirates. ECU also finished among the top 25 passing offenses in four of Riley's five years as OC.
Under Riley's guidance, quarterback Shane Carden and receiver Justin Hardy became record-setting players and one of the top passing duos in college football."
