28 points is not awesome. They put up some yards but I want points. This was one of, if not the worst defense we will/have played.

When the offense can't execute.. We need a new OC

When they do execute, we don't need one.

Why would anyone be excited about getting Spurrier? His recent offenses have been bad. He lived on a golf course and let his assistants run the program. He was just a figure head. That would be a terrible hire. Luckily I don't see that happening.

I saw Norm Chow's name come up last week when everyone was calling for Spav's head on a spike.

He got the boot today...

Don't know about the team he coached. Did he not have much to work with, or was it his scheme?

He's nearly 70 years old. Hawaii is considering shutting their football program down any way. Just too expensive to travel to games and back. Little to no fan support. (It's freakin' Hawaii, beach time versus football?? Beach time wins.)

Sorry, no golf. Just too much rain. Oh well, there is always this weekend.

But, great breakfast and great walk around campus.

So, here is the scoop: Every decision maker understands that there needs to be a change in leadership on the offensive side. But, Spavital is seen as a coach who can contribute to the effort in another capacity.

The new OC candidate is very excited about the possibility of guiding the A&M offense. They have always kept an eye on Texas A&M. Both sides are moving forward and there is no reason that anyone can see that an announcement will not be made once the Aggies and completed their last game of this season.

It is, and always has been, a great day to be an Aggie.

And, it is going to be much better to be an Aggie football fan once the "dream team" has its final member. Sumlin, Chavis, and [Touchdown!]. What a team. Seriously, if Sumlin and the AD pull this off -- give them both a raise, add some more statues around Kyle Field when it is all over.

BTW, how did you guys like that game up in Iowa last night? Apparently it only takes 1 point to beat the sips these days......now, that's some strong football.

Too much "if" in that statement.
This scenario has Spav staying as QB coach.
Who gets fired so that this OC can come and we keep Spav?

From what I've seen, we could make some room with Christensen.

Can't figure out what he's contributing...

Is that another clue to the identity of the supposed new OC due to the recent firing and availability of Mangino?

And which other team?? Current coach, then?? Non play-off team, obviously as their post season play would continue.

Holgersen is out after the final WVU game. Bob Stitt's season at Montana ends about the same time as ours does. Ditto Chad Morris.

Not Spurrier, nor Mangino. ETA: No reason to wait.

Is stitts a hc at Montana? If so, he isn't taking a demotion to come here.

Muschamp was HC @ Florida and took a DC job at Auburn.

HC @ Montana to OC @ TAMU is arguably not a demotion.

He makes less than $200,000 as HC in the Big Sky Conference. Think we might be able to top that.

He is very partial to mountainous scenery though, from Colorado School of Mines to Montana.

OTOH, he's early 50's and wants to coach in the big boy conferences.

Muschamp was unemployed when he most recently took the DC job at Florida.

However, Stitt is currently making $175k.

Yeah, kind of weird he added that last part. Not that Texas played Iowa St, but just stating it was in Iowa. Makes you think Kevin Wilson.

Every time I think of a name, I run it through the first post to try to see if it explains it and it never does.

I got nothing, I had hoped to manipulate the clues to mean Leach who was close to walking the plank earlier in the year but he has WSU humming now.

I had thought the clues to be "Huge", "low places", "get a cat", "a leak" and now "touchdown". Might as well be Colonel Mustard in the kitchen with a candlestick...that one may go over New Army's head.

...'very excited about the possibility of guiding the A&M offense' = knows the Air Raid offense.
...'always kept an eye on Texas A&M' = coached team(s) against A&M.
Huge = whale or mountain.

I still claim the clues all point to Mangino. Why not bring him on board now you say? Sumlin isn't going to throw any of his assistants under the bus; he looks out for them and wants them to be successful where ever they are. Spav will remain the OC for the rest of the season; he has already been considered for head coaching positions, and being removed as OC in mid season would be a big blemish on his resume. So no changes till the end of the season. Will Spav remain as QB coach next year under a new OC? Remains to be seen.
