I think the ROXZ shutdown in the spring of 87' or right thereabout. Didn't it become a Chelsea Street Pub at one time or am I confused? It was two incarnations after it was the ROXZ, one was short.

What is even more amazing is Freddie! Freddie the last time I visited A&M still worked at the Dixie Chicken. I worked with him in 1986.

Yes. By the taco bell. Owner opened Bullwinkles after it shut down. Closed in early 90s.

You are thinking of Sneakers on Harvey near Texas Ave. Besides the sand volleyball court, it was also famous for its "bladder buster" happy hour on Thursday nights. They would cordon off the bathrooms and wristband everyone who would pay, and everyone would drink unlimited well drinks, beer, & wine until someone had to use the bathroom. Usually a girl.
Oh how I feel bad for that poor potted plant.

best chicken fried steak i had was at longhorn tavern.

crooked path was awesome..the staff hated the boss (probably why they closed) and we would drink on our tips alone...me and the future wife would get blasted on about 20 bucks a night watching live music....and we drank alot.

Carneys was a place that never got mentioned cuz it was a frat hangout, but for a while it was the only place that had good beer on tap....ive got good memories there...even dunked my ring there....the only place in town that had lone star on tap when i was in school(chicken only had lone star light..now they dont have ****)....i needed to dunk the ring in lonestar or pearl, and it got done.

Carney's was the first multi tap bar in BCS for sure

1965
Only places in CS were Coach Nortn's Pancake House, LuAnn's at NG, & A&W Root Beer, & maybe the Dairy Queen on Texas near Welburn Rd. Right next to A&W (inside Bryan city limits) was Tom's. Better in Bryan were Youngblood's on S College, Chicken Shack on Texas, & Werhman's on 28th in Bryan. In 1966 after getting our fish "balls" back, we'd get a Wednesday night CQ church pass & head in one of our three fish cars for 18 fish to Wehrman's to gorge on the $1.25 CFS & pie. That worked great until the Zips caught us!
~1967 Ralph's Pizza showed at East Gate

1968 (legal drinking age)
East Gate Lounge (& pool tables)
South Gate Lounge (careful not to get into fights with football jocks)

Now that's Old Army before University was paved E of Texas and there was still a circle (round about) at S College & University.

For more adventure it was Wiskey Bridge & Uncle Ed's!
