It was a good pizza place. First one I was aware of was in Denton (my hometown), next to UNT. I was thrilled when they built one on Northgate in the mid-80s. I don't think it stayed open in CS more than 2 or 3 years.

I'm pretty sure it was open when I graduated in '91…

BTW, the Dry Bean was an ice cream place until '90 or '91…

And the Cowhop brings back great memories…

MMMMMM….a Bino with fungus…with fries and a tea…less than $4…

Remember Sneaky Pete, aka Dr. Pete Ruzo?

Yep…he was at Sundance Grill…and there were no salt shakers on the table when he played - you know why….

Frats and sororities can go suck and die. I laugh at those who buy their friends in the friendliest campus in the nation. "Howdy" is a regular part of my vocabulary, and most people respond to it.

Class of 94 here....Flying Tomato was definitely still around until at least '91, if not '92. Then, it was Two Pesos for a brief time....

Yeah, the Deluxe Burger right next to 7-11 was good. I remember when they built Taco Cabana across from the golf course.

New York Subs was unfortunately tied to the longevity of BCG in college station. Once he left, they lost 20% of their revenue.

And the shell station on George Bush was and still is the best bar.

Props to chicken ranch for remembering the $2 pitchers of mystery beer at king of the roadhouse... which replaced the cow hop at that location if I'm not mistaken.

Going way back -

Miranda's (now where the snakes live at the Dixie Chicken), a mixed drink bar where I learned to bartend in 1978

Studio 2818 - the only Disco in BCS. 4-for-1 Happy Hour, backgammon and ferns

Rebel's - became Fajita Rita's, used to be Chelsea Street Pub

The Stadium - in Post Oak mall, sports theme with the wall of every Sports Illustrated cover

That was the Stafford Opera House, then the Dixie Theater. Was originally built in the '30s and burned down and subsequently rebuilt in the '80s... Would be interested to know what has become of it

Kay's was great. There were 3 guys from my high school that used to play there all the time. Before it was the Dry Bean, it was an ice cream shop briefly. I worked at the Chicken briefly in the fall of 1990 asa "swamper" then a bartender. One night, the front must have played "Friends in low places" at least 6-8 times...

Next to Skaggs-Alpha Beta. After a night there all you had to do was stumble across University to get back to the dorms. Good times.

Not positive that we're talking about the same building, but the current Stafford on Main St. is basically the hipster mecca of the Brazos Valley. Tons of great renovations have gone on downtown lately, but sadly the hipsters have started taking over. Oh well.

1980.

I think the place became Electric Cowboy (or something like that) on the heels of the "Urban Cowboy" craze in 1981.

I thought Sneakers was off Harvey (where Ozona B&G currently is), but it's a been a few years. They really pushed the envelope on promos and HH's, I remember CS health dept shutting them down temporarily because they caught a girl squating in the sand v-ball during one of the bladder buster HHs.

Been to the Flying Tomato, but never saw Sneaky Pete.

Someone beat me to mentioning Skaggs Alpha-Beta. When I was a fish, our outfit would meet in the parking lot of Skaggs before driving out to bonfire cut. Then it turned into Jewel Osco, then Albertson's, then something else. (The order may be wrong, and I think it was Skaggs again one year)

I remember when Freebirds first opened. It was my first or second senior year. (5.5 year plan)

NY subs was there for like a year and half. It replaced Texadelphia, then became a series of Guido bars which keep closing.
