I liked the Mexican place (Rita's?) on Harvey Road next to Sweet Eugene's coffee house.

Lunch at Little Caesar's on NG, Crazy Bread and sauce for ~$2.75.

Anybody remember Rockyano's, the short-lived pizza buffet next to the bus station/pool hall on Eastgate? They charged $1.99.

Fort Shiloh had buy one/get one free chicken fried steak on Tuesday nights.

Golden Corral and Mazzio's were good for Sundays after church.

Barracuda Bar? It wasn't all that fratty of place, but probably drew them in. Fun place the few times I strayed from my usuals. The othe place by the Tap...wasn't it JD Wells or some kind of initials name like that?

JD Wells sounds familiar, but hell - I was generally hammered by the time we ever got there so I don't know. Seems it has been several places, much like D&D/Graham CS/Rodeo 2000 was.

I also miss the Hall. Thursday nights - $1 cover at the door, $.50 wells, $.50 Tequila Sunrises, $2.50 pitchers. That place was home on Thursdays.

That was some nasty ass Pizza and their drinks and such were horrible. I don't think it lasted an entire calendar year, maybe a school year. It then became some Enchilada place that flopped big time. I lived behind it and down from there and would cut across the back side when walking to campus, their trash was nasty too. I ate their once and no mas.

Club Ozone, next to Shadow Canyon. Think it was absorbed into another part of the building as an expansion. '97-98 I think.

1981 ish The Campus theatre "grode" flicks audience was about 99% male and of that about 50% or more were members of the Corps. So when the 1% female walked down the theatre aisle, the corps guys went crazy.

Wow, home of the $5 pizza - with a coupon from the Batt, if I recall correctly. We used to order them for late night delivery in the dorm. Probably the reason most of us gained the dreaded freshman 15. The delivery dude was always the same guy too - around '84-'86 era.

I remember about 90% of these places mentioned. Who else remembers Youngblood's Restaurant. It was on College Avenue near Martins BBQ and Pepe Taco. They had an "Aggie Special", which was two chicken fried steaks.

Great memories of Los Nortenos, La Taqueria, Cow Hop and The Deluxe. Parking was never an issue!

Anybody else remember the chicken fried steak at Wermans in downtown Bryan? It was there until at least1980.

And there was a place on Texas near Villa Maria called the Captain's Table, that and Pelican's Wharf were favorites. I remember people speak highly of Fish Richards, but I never ate there for some reason.
Oh, and out past the airport was the Country Kitchen.
How about Wehrman's in downtown Bryan, they had a good chicken fried steak too.

Charlie, I lived at Mom's in Bryan 2 semesters in'76/'77 included 3 square meals/day for $85/month. Mrs. Carlton & Miss Ball charged anybody and everybody $1.25 for breakfast, $1.50 for lunch, $1.75 for supper....all family style.

Carney's is in the Youngbloods location.

I don't remember a Captain's table on Texas Ave., but Captain's Seafood on Villa Maria later housed The Boat and now Shipwreck.

Captains Table was on the site of the bank just north of jack in the box iirc. It closed about 78ish I believe.

The tomato was where the backyard bar -I think its called now is (previously Fitzwillys, and a Mexican place before that. Next to Dry Bean, which was Sticky Chins ice cream until 1990. Which is also when Freebirds showed up at Northgate, and when Cowhop moved from next to Dudley's Draw to over by Skaggs Alpha / Beta. Back when the dirt pot-holed parking lot behind the chicken provided a great place to vomit and and refresh before going back in for more.
There should still be $20.00 glued to the bottom of the trough in the mens room in the chicken. Be brave poor new army!

I know a guy who hit another guy with a beer bottle at a bar on Northgate. Both of them ended up at the same emergency room getting stitches. One for his head. The other for his hand because the bottle broke in it. It was the only time I've seen a bottle actually break on someone's head. Usually they just "ping". The hand was worse than the head.

There used to be a 4 man scramble at the Bryan course on Tuesdays during the summer and we would tear up Shiners and Oysters there afterwards!!

Used to be able to write your name on a $3 bucket and they would hang it the ceiling..... 50% of them were scribed with "Big Al"......

HAHAHA! I had forgotten about Pepe's!

I had a good buddy who lived almost across the street in an old mobile home. We would leave Graham's (I bartended there) and all go by Pepe's on the way to his house to play all-night penny poker. We would each get like 10 tacos (I think they were like $0.25/ea). The next day, we would all experience "Pepe's Revenge". Ugh! Why did we keep going back? I guess after a night of hard drinking, it sounded like a good idea...kinda like that tatoo I got after Graham's one night. Ugh!

I thought Pepe's were $0.39 tacos and there might have been a coupon in the People Book for $0.29 tacos. I know from my time in BCS, late 86' through 91' the price of Pepe's went up and the quality went down. Those things were some gut bombs galore.
