Anyone remember Channello's Pizza ? Used to have a Sunday Special - 2 large pizzas for $5. Not real good but filling.....

Los Nort was great as we have discussed. And, whomever had LaTaq made a huge mistake closing down as they had the location and food to always be successful.

Zephyrs.... Way too many $$s and brain cells wasted in there... Can't remember exactly, but there was a lemonade drink and a shot that was popular that were killers. Think the owners name was Jeff. Also remember his main right hand man embezzled a bunch of $$s from him over a few years and it ended up hurting him badly.

One night Bucky decided to use a friend's head as a basketball and bounced it up and down off the sidewalk using his ear as a handle - I decided my friend would be OK and I damn sure did not want Bucky to hurt his hand on my jaw!!!

Just like life in general, the 80's were a special time.

God Bless Jackie as I still credit him for the positive turn in many facets of student life from when he arrived to just a short 2-3 years later, especially in female population department!

PS: Yes, Treehouse Village was the place back in the mid-to-late 80s - huge pre-semesters shin-digs!

Used to deliver pizza's on my motorcycle from Little Ceasar's on Northgate and Mama's Pizza (mom and pop shop). If you ever got a pizza with the toppings all bunched up on side of the pizza, I was probably the dick that did it.

I can't remember the name of the place in Bryan, it was really good. It had true interior of Mexico Mexican food but a very limited variety. A guy I worked with on campus was the one that told me about it, it was really good.

I also remember Gina's, and I want to remember that they did have some really good coupons. But it was a haul from where I was most of the time, just like the other place.

There was a lot of construction on campus back in the late 80's and early 90's and there were a couple of taco station wagons that would slip in and sell food that were really good and cheap. I think they were run out by the KK though as I did not see towards my latter part of time at school.

BCS before the invasion of the chains had some nifty places to eat.

To this day the best chicken wings and fries I have ever had were at the WingJoint on Northgate, what turned into Sticky Chin's. Mexican Petroleum Engineer that lived in Normangee owned it, I think it was open for like 2-3 years. At one time it was the only dedicated wing place in BCS.

I'm surprised Coup de Ville's had been there that long. The Roadhouse was gone by the mid 90's.

Anybody else used to walk down the Ho Chi Min Trail and eat some good gumbo and boudin from Hebert's?

Alfred T. Horback's was an awesome place - we used to go there for a change of pace when we wanted a relatively low key night. Shooting pool and drinking some beers while just hanging out was sometimes a great way to spend the evening.

Wasn't there some type of bar near where University and Wellborn intersect? I never went there - I want to say it was more of a frat type place that I wouldn't have fit in well.

The Longhorn Tavern had the best CFS you could get. Sommerville Steakhouse (Country Inn was the actual name) had good food - best part was that you go so much of it you could eat for near a week off of the meal.

I remember the place over near Harvey and Texas that had the beach volleyball pit. Can't remember the name though. Gumby's was good when you were hammered. I went to Carney's once. Once.

There used to be a place in the shopping center near the Tap, but I can't remember the name of it.

Cow Hop was awesome, as was Fat Burger. There was also some others that I"m sure I"m forgetting. Mi Cocina, Los Nortenos and Fajita Ritas were solid as well.

Barracuda Bar? It wasn't all that fratty of place, but probably drew them in. Fun place the few times I strayed from my usuals. The othe place by the Tap...wasn't it JD Wells or some kind of initials name like that?

Carney's... I went there a couple times before they expanded it and the frat boys decided they liked it. It was a semi-dive that was decent and had Guiness on tap. Good hole in the wall bar for awhile.

From what I remember the owner, Tino, basically lost his lease on the place. He was plenty successful with the WingJoint, but he had another restaurant in Normangee that he did very well with.

Interesting story about Tino, he was pretty high up in PEMEX, but he was on the wrong side of the early 80's power struggle that had some interesting consequences for many. He was basically told to stay in the US. He had a daughter that had a very rare illness and that was also a factor. I think he was like Class of 68' or something. He would deliver wings in his Audi and if he knew you well enough he would deliver beer too.

IIRC, the Parthenon was the same building as Club Fahrenheit and the Tap. The bar in the mall was Kay's _____, I think. I was in a band my freshman and sophomore years, and we played the bar in the mall, Eastgate Live, Cowhop (Annex), Fahrenheit, and Annam Tea Room among others.

Remember when "bottlecap alley" was just the place where all of the bars dumped their bottle caps and the CTs would come for Hell Week to make their bottlecap spurs...and it didn't need a sign over it that said, "Bottlecap Alley"?

Remember Kathy, the bartender at the Ptarmigan who would challenge anyone to a race with flaming Dr. Pepper's and NEVER lost. My wife and I were in town just for a random weekend last winter and decided to bar hop and went to the Ptarmigan. It's as much of a DIVE as it was then, but so cool that it's still there.

Fajita Rita's was where my mom would take me and all my friends when she came in to town and they would let us all drink margaritas when she was with us.

And Dos Hermanos! O man...two beef enchiladas in flour tortillas with queso sauce and warm hot sauce from the crock pot. How many days I ran the cash register for the ladies there while I was at lunch b/c they were swamped from all of the Animal Science folks that went there everyday. They actually memorized our schedules and would have our lunch waiting at "our table" when we got there. And when my girlfriend and I got engaged, they threw a shower for us and invited all of our friends.

Yeah that's right, every December and or May they would have a dinner party for all the seniors and such leaving, I remember going to it a couple of times. Nothing fancy but a good time. There were two sisters that worked their, Liz and Norma I think. I was very close to them. Liz had a stroke after I left school and about a year later they were both gone. I think it was open through about 93'-94' or so. It was much better than Los Nort's.
