It's just irritating that companies hype a new product, typically a driver, charge almost half what a set of irons cost, then within a year slash prices since the "newest" innovation will soon be out. I know- that's just the way it is. Doesn't mean I have to agree though.

Just toured Riverbend. The facilities are a little outdated, but they have made several good upgrades over the last 2-3 years. The Men's locker room is awesome.

The course was outstanding. Very tough. My driver wasn't on today (actually, it hasn't been on in months) so I hit a lot of shots from the trees. Did eagle #12 after hitting a 4 iron from 215 to about 20 feet and draining the putt.

Overall I was very impressed with the course. Some really good looking holes in the back part of the property.

I'll tour Sugar Creek next weekend and then have to make a decision. They might have better facilities, but I don't expect that Sugar Creek's course will be able to hang, and that's what really matters to me. Price-wise they are basically identical.

I know the guy who did the redesign for River Oaks. He is an aggie and has worked for Rees for about 15 years.

I am hosting a prospective junior member at PFCC this Sunday at 11 AM to play golf, tour the facilities and have his family in for dinner. All is complimentary.

I would love to include 2 more golfers to make a 4some. If you are seriously interested in checking out what PFCC has to offer, please PM me or post your email. I will get back to you with more details.

Its all about peace, love and unity.

I am looking for some folks to play with I am in The Woodlands and will play anywhere in the area. I am working towards breaking 100 but can get myself around the course.

tommy...
as you'll see (from previous posts) I like to "sell" the Little John's League to as many as possible. It's a league in houston(plays all over houston) that is flighted and handicapped and competes in stroke play twice/month. Lots of good folks and lots of fun. I've been playing in it for a year. (I still play with friends and outside of the league, I'm in Spring, so somewhat close to the woodlands)

You can see the league @ http://www.littlejohngolfleague.com or you can email me @ shaun-roberts (at) sbcgloba(dot)net for more info.

I played golf at Southwyck on Saturday afternoon. Twilight times begin at 4pm. Tee teed off at 4:30 and got in 18 holes. Only $19 and it came with 2 free beers.

I was extremely impressed with the course. For whatever reason I thought it was going to be similar to Clear Creek. It was much nicer.

ENJOY IT! I love that course. I would say just try to be accurate as you can get into a lot of trouble off of the fairways.

Fun course, glad I played it. I was a bit wild with my driver today and had to scramble from the rough a lot. Had eagle putts on 2 par 5s, only to end up with par on both. Ended up with an 88 after all the dust settled.

Found out that Jeff Bagwell's ex wife lives on the 18th fairway.

Played Redstone Members course today. The course is a beast. Right at almost 7600 yards from tips. I havent played in that deep of rough for a long time. It would twist the club bad. Anyways, I hit the ball great, but didnt really score well. Ended up with an 85, made a quad on 17.

Loved the layout, and although it was long, most of the holes are pretty fair, except the 500 yard par 4 that was playing into the wind with a lake in from of the green. Maybe it was #6 or #7.

Great course and if you ever get a chance to play it jump on it.....

Played Cinco Ranch yesterday. 39-35. Tough to score though when you have 36 putts. Won some money and killed a 12-pack, so a good day all in all.

They seem to have just about fully recovered. Wasn't a noticeable difference from front to back anymore.

I really gotta get my putting under control. 37 putts yesterday. I'm guaranteed to be 4ft-plus on my second putt if I'm outside about 20ft. Guess I just need to practice/play more. Any drills to help out my distance control?
Westicles
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I read one in Golf Digest a few months back that Lefty wrote.

Go to a practice green, put tees 30, 40, and 50 feet away from a hole, get 5 balls and start at 40 feet back. Putt all 5 from 40 until you have all 5 within 4 feet of the cup, then move to 30 feet, do the same and then move to 50.

Not going from 30 to 40 to 50 helps you not get use to the feel and just add slightly more strength to the putt.
Ezra Brooks

Read a good one in Golf Magazine last night.

Set out a target that is larger than you normally would - say a towel or water bottle or shag bag.

This gives you a bigger target to focus on and helps with distance/depth perception.

Try to hit the target.

As you get better at rolling the ball to the target, you can decrease the size - working to a tee.

When you are lagging farily close to the tee, you might start to drop a few of those or at least have them in gimme distance.

Told you. Riverbend is head and shoulders above the other clubs in the area in terms of what you get for the money. If we end up staying here vs. moving to Katy, I'm going to try and bring up joining again with my wife. BTW - offer pending on our house. No number yet, but our agent called and said it will be written up in the next few days. Our first REAL bite - granted its only been a month.

EZRA - Read Putting Out of Your Mind by Bob Rotella. "Gain control by giving it up." The best golf "instruction" book I've ever read, yet there's no "instruction" in it in terms of actually hitting the ball. Its all about routine and how all of the other BS does nothing but cause you to miss putts, plain and simlple.

Does he have any other books - say:

Eliminating the Triple/Quad Out of Your Mind

or

Hitting Greens Out of Your Mind

or

Eliminating Penalties Out of Your Mind

I don't have putting problems - but the three things above are the single reason I can't break 90.

Same with me. I've been anywhere from 72-78 lately, and I have still yet to putt well. It seems I 3 jack atleast 4 times a round and it seems as if I rarely make a birdie putt outside 5 feet. It is absolutely terrible. They say putting is the first thing to go and the last thing to come back. I'm waiting...

Westicles and Ezra, I'll give those tips a shot.

Cypresswood Report: Cypress Course

Course was in decent shape - a little dry, but thats what happens in summer. It did help facilitate a few 300+ drives.

Hit 8 greens, 42 putts, 46/45.

After birding #1, I thought I may be contending for a record, then I followed it nicely with a 7 on #2. Needless to say, it is very difficult to score when you have 42 putts.

Looking forward to HMR.
