I'm hoping the phrase "nothing burger" is a casualty of this weather and freezes to death.

Morning update from the national weather service:

Bumped up snowfall totals a little farther south and west to 2
to 5 inches generally along and north of I-20. There is still
potential for some banded or convective snowfall which could
result in isolated totals of 8 to 10 inches. This is most likely
to occur anywhere from the northern parts of the Metroplex to
the Red River over toward Paris.

Nothing burger like usual? We've had pretty big weather each winter for like four or five years.

I remember 2021. But, I've seen nothing "pretty big" in SW FW in the last "four or five years" otherwise.

Not sure there was one last year though.

Bone dry this morning, 36 degrees, and rain all day. Glad all the isd's were so thoughtful to cancel ahead of time!

I'd much rather have them cancel ahead of time than the "school closes in an hour, cancel your day and pick up your kids" like in winter of 2022

Why would they cancel today? Cold rain?

Many areas are already icing. You do realize kids have to come home from school too right?

Again, that didn't really materialize into anything in my neck of the woods (SW FW). Maybe further north FW or Dallas areas. But, not here.

…and to add, you also need to have a staff. They typically don't all live across the street from the school.

Yeah this is the big reason. Getting to school this morning wasn't going to be a problem. Getting them home could be. Lets be honest, the majority of drivers in DFW suck as it is. Add in school traffic and a bunch of new high school drivers who have no idea how to drive on ice is a bad mix.

Icing at 34 degrees? Must be some magic rain/mix/snow!

Sleet turned into snow currently in Farmers Branch. No accumulation on the concrete but the roofs and flower beds are white

ETA it also dropped to 34.0 from 36.7 when I woke up

Hearing reports of sleet coming down in Anna north of McKinney. Can anybody verify?
I texted my wife, but she's probably still asleep since SWA is letting them work from home today

Will my flight tomorrow at 2 be delayed heavily? Or no?
Idk, by 2 pm weather shouldn't be an issue. The way SWA runs their schedules, it all depends on where your plane is coming from. If it hasn't been delayed by its previous airports/flights and the weather is clear in Dallas, you're probably good.

But then again, DFW airports and airlines tend to freak out with weather.

Can you do this in another board or on social media? We get that you have been personally inconvenienced by the schools closing, but nobody else cares.

I love how TXDOT just automatically closes all the express lanes whenever there's bad weather. After that bad accident a few years back in Fort Worth (and it turned out they hadn't treated that stretch for over a day), they no longer even try to keep them open.

Lewisville: 32 at midnight, warmed up to almost 37 by 6 as the moisture came in, and it just got back to 32. It's been alternating snow and pretty heavy sleet for about the last hour. Grass is covered, can see a little bit accumulating on the road.

As wintry precip falls it will cool the air and ground as well.

Prosper has had heavy snow for a good 30-45 minutes now. Roofs costed yards sticking. Walked the street in front of our house and it's slick.
