I am! I'm flabbergasted as to why you can't.

Biggest issue is childcare at this point. Wife may well have to shift her Thursday clinic to Friday, which throws my world into chaos.

Ohhh. I was thinking you were having concerns with getting out of town Friday or something. Good luck!

I don't get why people belly ache about school closings. It's just a lost day of school. Not worth putting a bunch of people on the roads for it. The school isn't going anywhere.

Wife and kids are off tomorrow. Hoping my work will call it off for tomorrow as well. Luckily I'm about 15 minutes from my job site and have no major highways to drive on.

Just stay home unless you work in the ER or first responder. No job is worth the risk. Your office will still be there after the roads clear.

Some have small kids that require supervision.

I think he is saying all parents should stay home and not go to work unless ER or first responder....

edit: i guess you are saying maybe WFH w/ kids is not easy b/c of requiring supervision....

Just do what the teachers do in NTX on bad weather days. Go to the bars and drink. So, bring the kids and they can catch up on school work while you get caught up on email.

Anyone with a best guess estimate what road conditions will be in Dallas tomorrow or Friday afternoon?

Like many others I'm headed to Arlington for the Cotton Bowl with my Ohio State BIL. He is scheduled to fly in tomorrow night. Hopefully flight stays unaffected
I'm debating going tonight which yea is likely the safest route, but tomorrow or Friday afternoon is option as well.

Any advice ?

He isn't flying in tomorrow night. But Friday afternoon roads should be fine. Leaving the game it may get dicey again due to refreeze.

Cheese n rice….maybe if it was actually dangerous this would make sense. Some people can't just take off of work. Not sure if you have an actual job other than being 100% disabled and still in the Army. But in the real world people don't take off when the streets get wet.

Soon as I sent this he got notification to be aware of possible changes to flight schedule . Nothing yet but he is not expecting to land tomorrow night in Dallas.
I'm still up in the air of when to drive up

Icey roads are statistically far more dangerous and the txdot roadway status map with real time accidents will show this during ice events.

And pretty much everyone can take off work unless they work in an ER or emergency services. The world will go on just fine with you missing a day of work.

There has been zero precipitation yet and there are multiple districts cancelling Thursday and Friday.

Also, not sure anyone is freaking out, just annoyed. Regardless, your point is ridiculous. Sometimes husband's and wives both work, and have very full schedules and it is more than a giant pain in a55 when school is canceled.

Exactly. It's much better to know ahead of time, and safer, than waiting until the last minute.

Cleburne (my kindergarten daughter) closed for sure Thursday and Kinderfrogs/TCU (my 3 y.o son) closed Thursday and Friday.

This thing is going to be super nuts where 10 miles can be the difference in cold rain and 6+ inches of frozen stuff. Unfortunately, Cleburne is right on that line so we have no idea what to expect. My daughter really wants to build a snowman as we haven't had enough snow for her to do it before, so I somewhat hope Cleburne at least gets 2-3 inches on the backside Thursday night swing so we can build at least a small one together Friday.

What insight, thanks!

The districts that closed Friday could at least wait to see what happens tonight and in the morning was my point. This seems to happen all the time, and day 2 things are bone dry.

That has more to do with the calculation that they think they won't have the staff to be open Friday regardless. Too many call ins.

Cleburne dropped from 41 to 35 in an hour. Hopefully that continues down to 27-28, and the precip keeps in right around 31-32 early tomorrow.

Is your boss being difficult or can you not work remotely or do you have a bonus on the line? The forecast is showing it's going to ice over. It's not going to be "bone dry."
